Need some information please...
Hello all I have a date of March 19th at Hurley in Flint for my RNY. I would like to ask anyone there feelings on the better tasting shakes ( protein), bars and such. I work at Wright and Filippis and we can get most of the protein drinks and I can get them basiclly at cost. I have been told I have to call betterMD for a 2 week supply of shakes soups and such for pre op meals. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance
Scott
As most will tell you your tastes will change day to day especially early on post-op so your best bet to begin with is to try samples from sources such as VIta-Lady. Even if you find one type of protien powder you realy, really like, by the time you go through an entrire 5 # container you may find you are tired of it and want to try something else. So again samples are the way to start out in my humble opinion..
The BetterMD stuff is for the 2 weeks prior to surgery.... I had to use them as well, they actually taste really good... I wish I could afford them for use all the time... As to what to use after surgery, I agree with what was already said.. your tastes will change and www.vitalady.com sells samples so that you are not commited to a huge container.. you can buy a bunch and then taste test after surgery until you find a few that you love, then you can get a larger supply...
OH.. and congrats on the date.... you will be on the loser's bench before you know it.... Better get that pre-op diet ordered soon.... Good Luck to you...

I should be a rep for unjury as many times as I recommend them to people! They should give me a discount!!

They have sample packs you can try, and they are the BEST protein I have tried ever. It is tasteless and almost has no odor, which for me was the hardest part about protein. The smell makes me gag.

Even if you find one you like preop DON'T stock up, you will waste your money. Nothing tastes good the first month or so. Just try getting samples to get you thru until you can figure out what you like. for me the biggest thing was that I hated the powders because they tasted gritty. I prefer the premix, EVERYONE likes something different. I like muscle milk myself, but like I said try samples for awhile. Good Luck---Toni
Thank you all for the information. I go this Wednesday for my nutrition class. I guess I will learn a bit more but it sure is nice to have all of you letting me know what is up. Again thank you for all of you feelings and I do appreciate the time you have spent helping me. Keep them coming I am new to this hahaha...

Hi Scott,
I would definitely take everyone's advice about getting samples. Because your taste buds will change. What I found w/ myself was that I liked the thinner shakes. The thick ones filled me up so fast - I couldn't even hardly drink half of it. Anytime you have any questions - feel free to ask.
Take care,
Carey
