Balsamic Vinaigrette dressing - Quiznos vs Kraft

I was doing the much dread chore of grocery shopping at Meijers today and saw in the salad dressing aisle Balsamic Vinaigrette dressing by Kraft. I love the Black & Blue salad from Quizno's and with that salad you get a Balsamic Vinaigrette dressing. Has anyone tried both of these and compared them? I was tempted to pick one up (Kraft) but refrained myself from doing so. Guess I was nervous it would be something completely different. I love the dressing from Quiznos and have wanted to do a replica of the Black and Blue salad at home, but had not seen the dressing before...until today. Thanks in advance. Michelle

I love love LOVE balsamic dressing. To me Kraft was eh, okay. My personal favorite was by Maple Farms (I think it's Maple Farms). The best part is that it's fat free. Most of the time though I make it from scratch.

I have not tried Quiznos dressing. Sorry. As far as a recipe, I'm a little of this and a little of that kind of girl, lol. I just usually mix ingredients to taste. I use a really good quality balsamic because that makes all the difference. However, you can use the cheap stuff and it will taste pretty good too. So I put balsamic, olive oil (and you can play around with the oils, maybe try grapeseed oil...it will add a little sweetness), a little black pepper, maybe some oregeno, parsley, and thyme sometimes a little red wine vinegar or champagne vinegar, if you like your dressing on the sweeter side add some sugar (or splenda....I use sugar because I am allergic to those sugar substitutes), and a little mustard. (you can use mustard seed too) Like I said it's all per taste. I eyeball measure. Next time I make some I will pay attention and write down exactly how much of each ingredient I put in to try and make it less hard to follow. I hope this help some.

Michelle, Though I am not a fan (at all) of Balsamic Vinaigrette I happen to have the MOST AWESOME Splenda recipe book and it happens to have a recipe! Sweet Balsamic Vinaigrette Ingredients: 3 T Red wine Vinegar 2 T Balsamic Vinegar 2 T Orange Juice 2 T Splenda (or 3 packets) 1 clove garlic, minced 3 T Extra virgin olive oil 2 t dijon mustard Freshly ground pepper Steps: 1. Wisk first 5 ingredients together in a small bowl 2. Wisk in olive oil, 1 T at a time, to incorporate thoroughly 3. Wisk in mustard. Add pepper to taste. Hope that helps some! Jennifer

Hi Michelle, I haven't tried the Black & Bleu salad at Quiznos either, and usually am not even a fan of balsamic dresings, but Paul Newman makes a Newmans Own light Balsamic Vinigarette that is 45 calories a serving (2 TBSP's I think) that is REALLY good! I think I first had it at either Mickey D's or Burger King - it's one of the light dressings they offer. If I'm ever just not in the mood for the sweetness to be the predominant taste, I just add a few drops of Maggi seasoning and it changes the taste completely to a more salty O&V type flavor. good luck, Donna
