Stomach hard as a rock? Anyone?
So I'm sure you all know my surgical history at this point. I think I have posted a million times already, lol. So....I'm starting to feel a little better, but I still have an area on my stomach that is hard as a rock. It's maybe like a two or three inch area around the incision. To tell you the truth it doesn't feel all that good. When I sneeze it feels like my incision is going to rip right open. I know I am only 4 weeks (close to 5) out of this most recent surgery and need a little more time to heel. It's still a pain.
Anyone else have this happen or maybe have any insight as to what it is? I went to the ER last week because I thought I had a hernia or blockage, but everything checked out A okay.

It's not a seroma. I have no pus, no drainage. Both the ER doc and my surgeon down state didn't really seem to think much of it when I told them. The ER doc pressed on the spot, ordered the CT scan (he did acknowlege that he felt the hard spot), CT scan found nothing and they sent me on my merry way, lol.
The nurse said that I was probably still having all the pain because I was still blocked up from all the pain meds that I had been on. I'm guessing he was right in that respect because I came home and took more laxative. That seemed to help with the pain, but not the hard as a rock spot on my stomach.
Maybe it's scar tissue?
Yeah, that was my next thought. scar tissue can be very painful. Try firmly massaging the area as often as you can, if it is scar tissue it will help to break it down. Matter of fact massage your whole scar and it will help it to lay flat nicely and will help it to almost disappear. Good luck ----Toni
