Passed Out!

Not a fun morning in my house! I have lost 50lbs since the middle of January and 37 since my surgery date of Feb 13th, 2007. That is the good part! I was able to introduce soft foods into my diet this week. Things seemed to be going well, felt great and was ready to boogie. This morning, I had a small part of a scrambled egg, stood up and walked into the kitchen. Next thing I began to see red and WHAM! on the floor. To make matters worse, I hit my chin on the counter (20 stitches) and twisted my leg (broken ankle). Couldn't just fall Went to Blodgett were I had my surgery, whisked right in the emergency room. I'm not a diabetic and have only passed out once when I was very young. My PA, Randy called and indicated that it may have been a reaction to dumping. Seems odd to me. The ER doc thought it was my body shutting down due to pain, I didn't feel any pain. Personally, I haven't been able to eat all the protein or drink all the water. (I took two IVs today). Anyway... just be careful and drink your water and eat your protein... Something caused my blood pressure to drop and my dehydration and lack of food intake didn't allow me to recover. Feeling fine now, cast comes off in 8 weeks Anyone else have this problem??

Hi, Ya know, If I don't get in enough protien, I will get extremely dizzy and shakey almost like when your sugar is low. I know it is because of protien because when it happens I will eat protien and I am fine within a few minutes. I am usually pretty good at getting my protien in, but sometimes I expend more and so I need to up it, Or like one day at work I wanted tomatoe soup for lunch and I didn't have anything with it so about an hour later I got really dizzy so I ate a protien bar and a few min later I was fine. I hope this helps. Take care----Toni

Thanks! This sounds like what happened. I just wish that I was able to sit down prior to falling down LOL! I haven't been getting all of my protein in and I need to drink more water.

Hi Marc, That happened to me in the middle of Meijers ~passing out, not cut chins and broken bones LOL. They wanted to call an ambulance I told them no. Saw my P.C.P. about it. They never did figure out what caused it. It hasn't happened since. I think my blood pressure dropped to low, but will never know for sure. Next time if you feel it comming on sit on the floor. That way you might not get hurt. Hope you heal quickly. God bless, Annette

Sounds like dehydration to me. You are right about the water issue. Also you need to have your hemoglobin checked and see how your rbc and ferritin is. If you are anemic you will have issues with blacking out and such. Wendy

Thanks for the advice! They have determined that it was dehydration and that I need to eat more protein. Now I just have to get my leg healed
