Congrats on your date!!! Being both scared and excited is very normal. You will go through a lot of emotions in the next 3 weeks. Assuming you've done your homework and you understand the committment, you know that this life-altering step will bring you much closer to a life of good health and lifestyle changes. Savor the moment - you are in for a huge ride. Jon

Wow that is a long way from home. Will you be staying near your surgeon until after your follow up? I hope the hospial where you are having surgery has a hospitality house for you and your family to stay in while you recover, it will be much cheaper then staying in a hotel. The ride home will seem a lot longer then on the way there. I remember my ride home, I thought I would never get there and it was only 2 hrs away......LOL. Then again I had open RNY, most are having Lap now, the recovery is a lot quicker, so I am sure that it won't be to bad for you. I am sure you will do great. I'm sure your surgeon has recommended this to you. I don't live close enough to the area where you will be haveing surgery to be a good and effective Angel, but if no one steps up that will be nearer to the hospital you are staying at I can at least be your long distance angel. I will always be here for support if and when you need. I want to wish you the best in your journey to the losing side. It is a wild ride. But it isn't as easy as many programs would lead you to believe it is and will away be a lot of work to take off and keep off the weight. Sure you will have a honeymoon period where the weight will melt off, BUT don't let that fool you. You will still have to work at getting to goal, and more importantly staying at goal. For most that is a constant work. Nothing worth while comes easily. My best advice is, to do your homework and get into a good counselor to address any food/eating issues you may have. I personally don't know ANYONE who is/was over weight that there isn't/wasn't a reason behind it. If you figure that out now it will make your journey a lot more fruitful and pleasent. I want to wish you the best good luck to you and God Bless----Toni

Congratulations and hope all goes well for you. Although we have had our moments around here lately, this is still a great place to get support. Please keep coming back and check in with us. Also your surgery date board is a great place also. It will keep you up on what stages others are going through and all. I love my surgery date board. Wendy

Its so nice to get alot of replies from people that have gone through this operation. when I get home there is a girl here who had surgery in Sept and I am sure she will be very supportive.. It's nice to have a place to go and get answers to your questions. I would like to u a little bit about myself . I am a personal support worker in a Nursing Home here where I live. I am a mother of 4 2 boys and 2 girls . The oldest is 18 and the youngest is 12. I have fighting my weight all my life and look forward to loosing this forver and going on to have a better life without the stares of people who just don't understand. Last year I lost 80 lbs. Its was great but guess what It came back, and that makes me very depressed.......Anyhow Thanks again for everyone's support and will look forward to talking with u more........shelley
