Plastic Surgeons in MI

I have seen been to see two differant surgeons in seminars, had a consult with one. I so wanted to have him do my surgery but he is not in my network. Then I saw another surgeon that I "THOUGHT" was in my network and really liked him. I just found out that he is not in my network. So now I have a list of the surgeons in my network. I am so hoping that someone here has has some experiance with any of these doctors. I so want to get this huge hernia repaired and have my tt. Now my insurance will pay for the hernia and the pannelecutomy, and this one surgeon would have done the full tt for an additional $2000. I was so stoked and ready to go until I found out he is out of network which would me even more money out of my pocket......so anyway this is the list. Please help me. I am located in Ionia. Hi Sherry, so these are all the docs in your network, right? I know several of them from my job ( I do work comp and have sent lots of employees to a couple of them). I also live in the Ann Arbor/Ypsi area so am at least familiar with a few other names. What insurance do you have? I can tell you that my insurance is paying for my panni, but my ps does them all the same, no extra charge for the muscle tightening and above the belly button stuff. My research has shown that plastic surgery for obesity surgery patients is a bit more specialized, so whomever you choose, make sure they have experience with obesity surgery patients.

I had Dr. Kimberly Pummill out of Grand Blanc and she wea WONDERFUL. I liked absolutely everything about her. From her bedside manner to her willingness to take time to answer question, she and her office staff were fabulous. I highly recommend her to anyone. You will not regret going to her!!!! Jon

Hi Sherry, It is to bad that Dr. DiNick wasn't on that list. Because he IS the BEST out there. He did a beautiful job on my TT and he alway goes above and beyond to insure a great result. I do know 2 that is on there. One I recommend the other streering clear of. That is Dr. Pummill. I had a consult with her and I was NOT a bit impressed. I felt like she treated me as if she where better. She all around didn't do anything for me. I know several that used her and have had very unsatisfactory results. I also would happily recommend Dr. Beird of Saginaw. He did my Breast reduction several year ago and he did a great job. I don't know how he is with TT's but I do know my experience with him with the BR. As another poster mentioned it is important to go to someone who understands the bariatric patient and the excess skin we have to deal with. Not all surgeons will know how to deal with this. Sherry, I think I replied to you personally about this recently. I had Dr. Ron Barry from Saginaw. He has taken great care of many WLS patients all with great results. He is a Christian man as well and has so much respect for the sacrifices that we WLS patients have made to become healthy. He was far cheaper than the other Saginaw surgeons according to my research and I will say this as well. According to three RN's that work directly with all of the plastic surgeons in the Saginaw area, Dr. Barry was very highly recommended by all of them and as a matter of fact, I was informed that he has had to correct some of the other surgeons work. Whatever decision you make is going to be right for you. You will know when the time comes who to choose. Good luck. Susan
