I have using the protein drinks from Bari Hospital which is high in Protein, no fat, no sugar, no carbs. I think by staying away from fat, sugar and carbs you avoiding the bad things. Plus it tastes pretty darn good. C

Linda, Surgery went well, and I am about 97% back to normal. I have dropped like 16 pounds since surgery, and have all my energy back. If I could just get passed this darn chest cold I would be 100%. Thanks for asking

You need the high protein low sugar ones. You can go to bariatriceating.com and order the sample packs, lots of good ones there. Linda

I have used so many kinds but the key is high in protein and low in sugar. Holly W

I'm probably going against the majority on this one, but here's my take on it. I go for the TASTE first!!! If it's not good, I KNOW I wont use it on a regularly scheduled basis. I've tried MANY and they were gross to me. Didn't matter to me at that point what they had in them. I've found Desinger Whey Vanilla (from WalMart) to be the best for me. One box is $15.24 and last me 3 weeks if I'm drinking 2 per day, but usually lasts me a month cuz I tend to forget my second one. Calories 120 Fat 3g Carbs 3g Sugar 2 Protein 20 g This seems pretty balanced out to me. I put mine in sf hot chocolate and I do ALWAYS use 1 1/2 scoop so Im actually getting the following: Calories 180 Fat 4.5 g Carbs 4.5 g Sugar 3 g Protein 30 g I do this because it makes the most of our absorbtion level. We only absorb 30g(ish) at one setting so I max it out to the 30 grams (does that make sense?) Best of wishes on finding what will work for you!!! Laurie

I agree with the whole taste thing too. If it doesn't taste good it won't get used. I should have elaberated more in my post. I tasted a sample of one at a store once and the employee rattled off the protein and a few other things and it sounded good and I was excited because it tasted good so I bought it. When I got it home and made a full serving, I dumped. Of course from that time on I was much more concious of the sugar. I think it had like 9 or 10 grams of sugar per serving but I am very sensitive to sugar and can't handle that much in liquid. That being said I look for high protein and low sugar that tastes good too and as most on this board know it takes awhile to find something you like and even then after awhile you may get tired of it and want to switch. Hi Crystal, I found a product that I really like. It's called Body Fortress and comes in vanilla and unflavored. It's not gritty at all so you can add it to most anything and still be able to stomach the texture. The vanilla has 23g protein, 1g sugar, 1g carb, 1.5g fat. It tastes pretty good and blends real smooth. I also like the hot chocolate mix by Health Wise. Each packet has 15g protein, 2g sugar, and .5g fat. It's pretty rich tasting and an immersible blender would help with this one, but once blended, it's nice and creamy. I sometimes add it to my coffee for a high protein mocha treat! Most of the time though, I just buy the AdvantEdge protein shakes. 11 ounces containes 17g protein and no sugar, and they are pretty yummy. A four-pack is about $6. Good luck! KathyG
