I am getting married in less than 2 months, and want to have a little wine during the sharing of the unity cup. What do you recommend? I am 3 years out, but have not tried wine yet. Suggestions?????? Thanks TRracey

If you are 3 years out- and you are only drinking a little I say go 4 it..just be careful of sugar in wine. I have drank wine and was fine. Shannon

My surgeon always says the clearer the alcohol the better so probably a blush would be better than a red. I drink alcohol occasionally and I do well with clear alcohol. I have drank blush wine at Christmas without a problem. Suzanne

Though I am not a wine drinker, I do have a suggestion. Since it is your wedding and I am sure you want to enjoy it, you might want to give drinking a glass a whirl at home before the ceremony. As post ops, we tend to get drunk a lot quicker than pre op and also you never know how something will or will not agree with your body. I would also be sure to drink whatever you plan on having at the wedding at home (not a totally different type....like red if you plan to do red etc). Good luck and congrats on the upcoming wedding! Are we just talking about a couple of sips or a whole glass? A few sips will probably not affect you much, if any. You could always try drinking the same amount at home that you think you will be drinking at the wedding to see if it has any affect. Or if you are really worried about it, then use sparkling wine or something. I drink wine on a fairly regular basis. Yes, a glass of wine gets me drunk. I've passed out on two...LOL! So, I generally stick to one glass.

I have found that I get a buzz for about 20 minutes from some wine and then it is gone. But everyone is different. I am two years out now. I have drank champaine and some Aste without any problems but if you just sip you should be ok. I would suggest what the others have, try some at home a few weeks or even now of what is going to be served. Then you will know for sure. Brenda

thanks everyone. I will be just sipping it...and wondered if a lighter wine was better than a darker. thanks for suggesting i do a trial run at home.....probably a good idea. Tracey

Tracey; Most nights we drink wine with our dinner. I drink about 1/2 glass because I find I get a buzz real easy so like someone posted before, try some wine at home just to see how you react but I am sure that a few sips of communion wine would be fine.
