I had a hernia repaired 2 weeks ago and when my surgeon went in he discovered that I had ALOT of scar adhesions and it took 40 minutes for him to remove the adhesions before he could repair my hernia. I have mess that measures 10" in length (up and down) and 4" wide. I feel very "full" if that is the way to describe the feeling. It bothers me to sit and when I eat I am down to 1/2 c of food at a time. I ususally can eat 1 c at a time. I know alot is probably swelling but I am just wondering if anyone else has had this much mess repair and how you felt and how long before the "full" feeling goes away. I don't know how to explain the crazy feeling. My surgeon says it is normal. Course nothing about me is "normal" anymore.

Hi Tam, I remember when I had my TT and hernia repair, I felt the same way. Matter of fact I lost about 20 or so lbs afterwards, but unforturnately they found there way home I know you can't afford to lose anymore so, you may want to eat more often, so that it keeps your weight up. Good Luck and God Bless---Toni

I am glad I am not a loner. I was beginning to think that something serious was wrong. When I started eating after surgery I know my pouch and surrounding area was swollen. I could feel it when I would swallow. Guess I will just have to be patient. I have really cool pictures that he took of the mesh but I had no idea it was so large until I went in to have my sutures taken out. Thanks for shouting out!!

I had a large hernia repaired and also felt similar I lost the 12-13 lbs of skin and also lost an additional 15 after and have managed to keep it off. As of right now I feel like my eating habits have gone back to normal ... Paul

Yeah I can hardly eat anything and if I try to eat more I feel like wretching which is not like me. So I am trying to take it easy. I just don't like being down. It drives me nuts. And not being able to lift anything or do anything in enough to drive a person crazy. Funny how 3 years ago I could care less if I did anything and now I can't stand sitting still. Thanks for letting me know I am not the only one!

What kind of hernia did you have ? I had an ubillical hernia repaired and a mesh was put in and It seemed to take like 2 months for that numb full feeling to pass...I am sorry that you are having some troubles with it...Mine got infected and it took 3 months of dealing with the grossed smell....It made me wanna ever time I looked at it......Well good luck.....

Hi Crystal; Thanks for yelling back! I had a Ventral Hernia but what made it worse was the scar adhesions I had. They said it took 40 minutes just to clear out the adhesions so that is the biggest reason for the swelling and full feeling. My mesh is just about where my pouch is so I am sure alot of it is still swollen. Sorry you had so many problems with yours. I have 10 incisions and they all look very good. Should be almost invisible once they heal. Take Care!
