It was 17 years ago to the day that I had neurosurgery to remove a tumor off my brain. I thought that things would be and that I would be back to work in 2 - 3 months like the doctor said. Boy, was he wrong!! I spent a day and a half in RECOVERY, then 3 1/2 days in intensive care, and 5 days on the medical floor. I was a very sick puppy!! I spent about 22 hours a day in as I was so exhausted. I came home on a walker at age 29. My mom had to give me a and wash my hair. I was every day, one to five times a day! Six months later I to a four prong cane. I went to Deleware with my family in October of that year (1990) and my parents stopped every two hours for me. Shortly after my one year anniversary, my sister got married, and I was the maid of honor. I had lost about 25 lbs at that time. Because of some vision problems I was having, I did not drive for 8 years!! I eventually went to a regular cane, and weaned myself off that. I started doing more things in 1995. I bought a car in September 1998 and started driving again. Actually, I was driving with my parent a few years before, but I wasn't insured. Once again I learned on a BIG car - actually a mini van but I bought a Plymouth Acclaim. Fast forward to late 2006. I realized that even though I was living with my parents and getting Social Security, it wouldn't be enough to support me if something happened to them. In January 2007, I have started looking for work, so far no luck. I believe that the Good Lord and His have been looking over me all of this time, and even now. I never blamed Him or for what I went thru - I think of it as being tested. I'm thankful to Him that I'm still here - I don't know where I would be today if I hadn't had the surgery. I'm also thankful for all of the that I've made here on OH and other boards that I belong to. I don't plan on giving up any time soon for anything. As KP would say, "YOU ROCK!!"
