If you are having knee problems, you probably shouldn't be doing any exercise that is too harsh on your body. My suggestion is water aerobics. Minimal stress on the joints and it's a good workout. Personally, I love my treadmill and my Tae-Bo DVD's. Except Tae-Bo is not for the faint of heart. It will kick your butt and you will hurt. You will hurt bad, lol. After a while though you get used to the workout and it's not all that bad.

Rebecca, I do not know where in Detroit you live, but I lead an arm chair aerobics class at St. Philomena on the East side of Detroit. It is on Wednesday mornings at around 9:30 aftr morning mass. It is free, and I have a nice small group who would welcome a new face. It is a good workout, lots of fun. Let me know. Carol

Have you tried water arobics? Maybe try the Y and see what classes they offer. Bad knees can be very painful. I hope you are feeling better. Take care---Toni

I have a couple that I'm about to dump. Size 16 and 18. They are a littl stretched out but not really bad for short term. I can meet you at the pool for the Saturday 9AM water aerobics. I sent you a message. Jeanne

Hey Rebecca First of all Stay away from the treadmill. I am an avid excerciser. I have weak knees and I completely stay away from the Treadmill . My trainer will not let me get on it. it is too harmful. I also work in a gym in membership sales and I am a nutritionist. My suggestion to you would be: water aerobics, swimming, using the stationary bike(which is great) or the cross trainers at the gym. they more or less glide and put no pressure on your knees. In our gym we have the ARC Trainers our cross trainer, it is wicked!! You burn more calories on that and it is a total upper and lower body work out, you are using resistance as well as toning and some cardio, on it I burn 70 calories in 5 minutes compared to the treadmill where I only burn 30 calories in the same time. (sometimes I drift to the treadmill when I am not with my trainer and darn if he does not find me and boot me off!! LOL) I hope this helps!! anything I can help with let me know... good luck Elisa
