Wow...but yes protonix is small...It is about the size hmmmm... it is maybe 4mm by 6mm not as big as some pills for acid.....I had to take aciphex before my gallbladder surgery those are bigger... but then I had to take protonix after gallbladder was removed for about 2 months just too much acid.....Good luck....Hope all turns out....

Just out of curiousity what led you to get the egd? Were you having symtoms that made you think you might have an ulcer? Holly W

your meds should work. It worked with mine. My wl surgeon said the ulcer had nothing to do with wls.... hhhhhmmmm, I've never had an ulcer before, I have wls, am eatting very healthy and NOTHING remotely spicy... and ulcer appears less then 6mths after surgery! hhhhmmmmm I'm thinking perhaps he was mistaken. DUH, they say we won't get them after surgery but I know MANY people who have with no history of stomach problems or acid reflux. Hope you get feeling better real soon!!!! Laurie

I hope you are feeling better soon. I know it can be frustrating. I remember back when I had surgery I was told that I would never have to worry about ulcers or acid reflux after my by pass. Sometime I wonder if they lie to us or they are just that misinformed??? Good luck and take care---Toni

Hey Rebecca, I am about 6 weeks post op RNY; and I too have been diaginosised with an ulcer! Bummer, I had a stricture and an ulcer at only 4 weeks out. I agree that the doc's don't know everything. I have to take 2 Nexium, cariffate, and regalin everyday now. I never had an ulcer before; it was very deep burning, stomach ache, unable to swallow well or keep things down. I have been on meds a couple weeks now getting somewhat better. Don't just let this go! I got dehydrated and ended up in hospital.. Good luck with you treatment. Sincerely, Judy R. P.S. I was doing good and not doing anything wrong either..

Good point Judy about you not doing anything wrong!! my surgeon first ignored me saying that something was wrong. I went in three seperate times and was told it's nothing each time. Then I ended up in the hospital and scoped and diagnosed... but by then I wasn't able to eat ANYTHING!! I was very dehydrated, malnurished, etc... And he told me that it was my fault!!! These doctors don't konw everything. I'd like to think that they are just ignorant to some things and not purposely misleading patients... but once the damage is done it's done!!! laurie
