I started losing my hair at about 3 months post-op and I would say that at about 9 months I noticed it growing back in.

I too noticed the hair starting to fall out right around 3 months post-op. It had pretty much stopped by around 10-11 months post-op and is now growing back in. Not a whole lot you can do about it. I do have a list of vitamins and supplements recommended by my surgeon's office for hair loss. I did follow them and not sure if it helped much or not. The hair loss didn't stop but it also wasn't extremely bad. May be worth a try. Here it is:
" Due to the changing levels of protein and vitamin levels that occur during the weight loss surgery process, some patients may notice thinning or loss of hair.
This is usually a temporary condition which improves after the active weight loss period is complete or approximately 12 to 18 months after surgery.
It is important to be sure you are getting the recommended amount of protein and vitamins daily. The following combination, in addition to your daily multivitamins, has been recommended to help slow the rate of hair loss:
Zinc chelate: 15 mg daily
Copper chelate: 1 mg daily
Silica: 20 mg daily
Vitamin C: 2,000 mg daily
Flaxseed oil: 5,000 mg (1 tbsp) daily
Vitamin A: 5,000 IU daily
Supplements should only be taken for 30 consecutive days."
The 30 day restriction is mostly due to the Vitamin A. You can get vit. A toxicity if you take too much. I was told the Flaxseed oil was the most important one to take and you don't need to worry about taking that longer than the 30 days. It will be safe. I took all for 30 days and then stopped the vit A, copper and silica (my pcp recommended that I stop these after 30 days) but continued the rest for another couple of months.
I can't swear by it but it may be worth a try.
