How bad???
For me the nausea was worse than the pain... but that is how it was for me... everyone is different... I was throwing up nothing for 3 days, and had to be kept an extra day... They generally give you narcotics before you wake up, and that with the anesthesia (sp?) is what caused me to be so nauseated.... If you handle narcotics well, then they should keep your pain pretty controlled with the meds....
You are completely normal for being worried...

I guess it all depends on how they manage your pain and what your pain tolerance is... Some say they have had horrible pain, while others like me, didn't even use the pain meds... They made me too sick.... I used tylenol.... I thought labor and delivery was much much worse... if that helps at all... but remember everyone is diiferent and you may have a different experience than I did.... I hope you have minimal pain and don't have the nausea that I did... Best of luck to you..

When you first get back into your room, you'll be given a pain pump and you can hit the button when you need to. I was lucky in that I had very little pain and no nausea at all. I was up and walking around very quickly so I could get rid of that darn gas. That was the worst part of the whole operation for me.

I had my gallbladder out before WLS and for me the gallbladder was worse. My gallbladder surgery was done lap and my WLS was open. I wasn't in much pain in the hospital after the WLS because I had a morphine pump and when they sent me home I was given Lortab but it made me sick so I didn't take it. I was uncomfortable for a few weeks and had a hard time sleeping but for the most part I was good pain wise. I think it was much better than I had expected. Good luck
