Seeking expert advice.
Hello,
I know that I asked this in my first posting but I am wondering about complications after surgery. What complications did you have after surgery? Also, where these health issues evident before surgery or did the surgery bring them about? Anyone have seizures after surgery?
Also, I have completed my nutritional assessment, cardio clearance, psych eval, and blood work. I have a letter from my dr which states that i was put on a 1200 and 1500 calorie diet with little to no success and have med. necessity (diabetes). I wrote a letter outlining my weight and diet history as well (I got a sample from a website on WLS which many people used to justify their surgery to their insurance company). I also have 7 months of receipts from my Reliv distributor for diet shake. These receipts are from the last 7 months.
Okay, now for my question, my surgeon's office aid (Dr. Kole- Annie) wants to wait to send everything to the insurance company for preapproval, she waiting for me to get my records from Medical Weight Loss from 4 years ago. I have requested it twice and am still waiting but I am wondering if it is necessary. Should I insist that she send it in anyway? I have BCBS traditional which I have hear is likely to approve. How much information did you provide for insurance? I think the only issue is diet info from 12 months. Did you have to have all records or did you just document weight loss attempts? Advice? I am anxious to get the show on the road. I would like to have surgery mid May so that it doesn't interfer with my classes.
One more thing, any support groups in the metro detroit area which meet in the day or weekend?
Thanks.
Tiffany
Hey Tiffany,
I had RNY of Feb 5th; I had a few complications. The first complication was a septic wound infection in my staples; this is very dangerous. It had to be drained and then I was put on antibiotics. After that cleared it was a stricture and ulcer; the stricture was dialated open, and I am still fighting with the ulcer. Despite all of this I would still do it all over again! I had a lot of bad health factors in my decision to have the surgery. It sounds as if you are at this crossroads as well. I would not wait any longer if you want to have that surgery in May. I would be happy to answer any ? at any time. Good Luck, Sincerely, Judy R
