Hey Everyone, Went to the surgeon yesterday; they say I am doing very well except for the ulcer! I am right on track with the weight loss. Surgery was Feb 5th, still having some trouble getting in all my liquids and protein. They say I need to get more protein to heal everything. They also tell me it can take 3 months or longer for a large ulcer to heal; and that everytime I throw up it is like tearing a scar off. This can become a serious problem; I tolerate food fairly well, but sometimes up to 30 minutes after I eat it I barf! I am going to go back to work in April; but only 3 days a week because I don't think I can handle 40 hrs. plus.. Anyone have tips on dealing with ulcers. I am taking Nexum twice a day, carifate, and regalin. I am very careful on what I eat; little or no spices.. Any advise is appreciated. I want to heal this ulcer quickly; the nutr. said pt. have gotten very ill and hospitalized with these types of ulcers. Thanks, Judy R

Maybe it's the reglan. My surgeon gave me reglan way back and it made me sicker than a dog. I asked him to take me off it and after that I stopped throwing up. It's funny how a medication that is designed to aid in stomach motility and help with nausea, etc., has the side effects of nausea/vomitting. Huh? LOL Most people don't have any problems with reglan. My surgeon still looks at me cross eyed when I have to remind him not to prescribe it. So I'm probably taking a shot in the dark, but maybe that's why you are still throwing up.
