Plastic Surgery Question!

I have a question for those of you that had plastic surgery that was covered by your insurance. I want to have plastic surgery on whatever my insurance company will cover which would probably only be a tummy tuck and breast reduction. I am worried though that I will be even more self-conscious about my body when only half of it's done. Did anyone feel like this? I mean I wish I could get everything done but I just will not be able to afford it so it's either just a few things or nothing. I also wanted to know if the insurance companies that end up covering the tummy tuck cover the muscle tightening too? Thanks, Holly W

Holly, I had a tummy tuck and my arms done and my insurance DID NOT cover any of it. They said it was "cosmetic". BUT...at the same time I also had a hysterectomy so "some" of the OR time was covered. Some Blue Cross policys will pay for TT's, Many years ago before I lost weight I had a breast reduction, at that time I had Blue Cross and they did cover it. Now I am employeed at the DMC and there coverage will not pay. Best of luck, Robin

Hi Holly, My TT was covered 100% I have bc/bs ppo, but it does depend on your policy, Your best bet is to go to a surgeon that knows how to bill for RECONSTRUCTIVE surgery. Dr. DiNick who works mostly with wls patient know how to bill. If the right codes aren't used they won't pay. I also recommend going to his private practice. Not that there is anything wrong with barix, I just liked going to Providence Hospital. Dr. D. is the best of the best and he KNOWS the wls body. I wish I could afford to have more done, but I am happy to have had done what I was able. I was able to get the muscle work paid for also, because I had a hernia. Well good luck to you and God Bless---Toni
