can anyone here can tell me what a seroma "feels" like??? I had my plastic surgery revision one week ago today and since they removed the "dog ears" they went almost all around my back. Now my back hurts like heck just above the incision. The nurse was out here today and said it looks normal but when she touches it, it feels a little "squishy". Now i'm not exactly skinny yet so i think all of me feels a little squishy but she says it might be a seroma. It feels like a bruise. Like i was kicked there or something and it's really bothering me. it's almost as painful as the incisions. does that sound like a seroma? i see the surgeon tomorrow so you don't have to tell me that the board isn't the apropriate place to get diagnoses and that i should call my surgeon. I'm just impatient and wondering if i'm probably gonna get popped tomorrow. Does that hurt? lol. i'm a worry wart.

A seroma is a pocket of clear serous fluid that sometimes develops in the body after surgery. When small blood vessels are ruptured, blood plasma can seep out; inflammation caused by dying injured cells also contributes to the fluid.Seromas are different from hematomas which contain red blood and from abscesses which contain pus and result from an infection. That Is what i could find from my medical books.....

Sounds like a seroma. Too late though. I did the Knack thing a long time ago Schmucko. Being popped is much like zapping a zit only bigger. They (he) uses a big ol needle and jams it right into the scar. You feel nothing. Then he sucks the juice right outcha and squirts it into a basin and the sell it to shrimp fishermen. I now. I had a seroma from hell. Dr. Kole said it could have been it's own country. Afterward there was much rejoicing. I'm still being moderated so you won't see this in a timely fashion. I hope you feel better. kp

Hey Jay, I'm going in at 5:30 to get my little/big pocket of juice drained today too. Kevin is right, I was scared to death of that honkin needle when I was in to get it drained two weeks ago but I am still numb along the incision line so I didn't even feel it. The seroma itself doesn't hurt, but sometimes the pressure from the fluid build up causes me discomfort. I've been like a faucet for the last week....I have a spot where the horizontal line meets the vertical line of my "anchor" that hasn't heald over yet and the fluid is leaking out there. Sometimes so heavy I can't leave the house, sometimes barely at all. It's been a delight! Dr. GQ will give you the low down on the pain issue. Take Care, Michelle
