We want Kevin back, RIGHT?
He insulted someone. BIG FREAKIN' WHOOP. well in this case it was, because it was a moderator's husband. He wasn't trying to be insulting he was trying to help someone. For this we've lost one of the finest resources this board had.
So here's my idea...
What i'm suggesting is that if you don't like what happened and want KP back, don't take issue with it on the board by slamming OH, write them a nicely worded and logical plea to reinstate him. Make sure you're calm and not insulting and carefully spell out what Kevin's presence on these boards has meant to us. It's not our board but we are the people who attract their advertising revenue and the surgeons who pay to be listed here want new people to come here and decide to use those surgeons. They do care what we think. Let them know. Let your surgeon's offices know as well. Be calm, be polite, be courteous and be logical. Make a good argument, don't be an angry mob. It might work.
Because of Kevin Phillips being on this board i had an offer of a ride to my Weight Loss Surgery... IN FLORIDA. I had clothes sent to me IN FLORIDA (thanks to Paul as well and of course Melanie). When i got here i had a doctor and a surgeon to care for me. I had a friend. I had wise advise on how to handle my new pouch. I had someone come visit me at the hospital. I had someone drive me home from the hospital. I had someone show me how to take care of my JP tubes when the nurses did not. I had someone advocate for me at the hospital and get the nurses to do their job and bring me my pain meds. I had a good connection with my surgeon and his staff. I had someone to kick me in the butt when i needed it whether it hurt my feelings or not because he was willing to anger me if it would HELP me.
This would not have been possible without OH but OH could not have made it possible without KEVIN PHILLIPS.
Those are the kinds of things we need to remind the staff about. Kevin is all that and more. NOT TO MENTION HE MAKES US LAUGH AND BRIGHTENS OUR DAY.
Simply put, when OH banned Kevin they rid OH of one of the single most useful supports here. Of course in my case the most useful was Melanie, but she's a one man kind of woman so the rest of you had Kevin (as did i) to help.
This board is much less today than it was two days ago. Their value has seriously decreased. And i'm not talking about just the Michigan board, Kevin was all over this site.
Unfortunately, when one chooses to be a controversial figure and delights in slinging insults(even if most think it is fun), someone will eventually have a say that matters. I agree that Kevin offered alot to many, but there are two sides to every story. I am a firm believer in the first amenement and have had my own battles with OH in the past regarding this. I think I even faced the banning monster once. I have no clue what he did, but he obviously peed in somone's wheaties.
