I usually try to play it safe when eating out. if I have even a tiny thought that something may get stuck or make me sick... I avoid those things when eating out. I usually order any of these:: an omlet, if you dont mind reheated leftovers.. or maybe shre one with someone at you table? 1 EGG & DRY TOAST ( butter usually makes it to moist..) cup of soup chicken or tuna salad sandwich, minus the bread. it then usually comes on a bed of lettuce. cup of chili and Ive already ordered LF wraps also have ordered nacho type dishes without the shell or tortilla. thenit also is served on lettuce. usually mexican places have a ala carte menu one tostada minus the shell is enough to fillme up..

this is just a suggestion but fast food is filled with sodium and fat and since we can eat so little and be satisfied, why not eat GOOD food. I try to eat out at good restaurants and order healthy food. Even though i'm fortunate to share my life with another wls surgery patients we don't usually share our meals but order separately and take hom the leftovers. This way we get two great meals for the price of one. Or we can order wonderful appetizers that completely satisfy us. no longer do appetizers seem overpriced but now seem like excellent bargains for our new lifestyle. and most restaurants are very understanding about making small substitutions to fit our new lifestyles. Fast food is one of the things that got us here. Why eat that crap now? Even Wendy's chili is filled with fat and calories that can be used elsewhere. sometimes i'm amazed at how the fast food restaurants can cram that extra fat and sodium into their foods. If we make the same things at home it's always much less calories. Of course i occasionally break my rules out of convenience but it's very rare. I do understand that when kids are in the picture... so is fast food. but when they're not ENJOY the good stuff! That's what i say.

i know that fast food is not the best choice but i am a truck driver and there are times that if i am on a long run and out of cooler stuff ,the only places that have truck parking is at a mcdonalds,b king and a couple others, there are only a few regular restraunts i can park at, i haven't visted restraunts , i needed a few suggestions on best things to order, if there are websites i can find that gives food stats for wls info ,it would help.

I SO agree with Jay....Fast food is what got us in trouble.....I am 11 months out and have not eaten any fast food yet or plan to. You need to go on line and look up menu's to see what they offer or call ahead and ask questions. good luck! Maria Eat to live... not live to eat

Rebecca, I'm on the road a lot, never know what my schedule will be. I do my best to pack a lunch now, but sometimes it just doesn't work out. http://www.calorieking.com/foods/ Marie

i usually don't do many fast food, it's what made me fat to begin with....it is so hard to order healthy. If i go to a normal restaurant i order ala carte or appetizers. If it's breakfast i order an omelette with ham, cheese and veggies , and thats it, i drink water with it. If it has to be fast food, you can get a side salad and order a grilled chicken sandwich, meat only, and put that on the salad....make sure to have your own dressing. A lot of fast food will do any sandwich low carb, meaning the put the sandwich in a container with a lettuce leaf and you can roll it up. i cannot do hamburgers, they kick my butt. In my opinion, i would keep jerky, deli turkey, and cheese with me if possible, like maybe keep a cooler, it ends up being much cheaper in the long run too. As for easter, i'm eating ham, baked beans, deviled eggs, german cole slaw (vinegar based not mayo) and then i will make macaroni salad and potato salad for the family, not me. My favorite foods are mexican and bbq, so those foods i have to cook at home or i'll be in trouble. I hope this helps Hugs Linda
