I just got off the phone with Debbie, she had posted earlier that she thought she may have a blockage. She called Dr. Pilkington and came down to Mount Pleasant where she was in the ER and then had labs done, and he took her in for an Endoscopy.
Turns out that she has an Ulcer. She is happy to be home, and not to have a blockage. (as we all would be) Dr P gave her Nexium and other than a scratchy, dry throat from the endoscope, she's resting at home now but would greatly appreciate your words of encouragement and support.
Having had a blockage myself, I understand her concern.

Hi Debbie!
I'm so glad you found out what it was...now you can treat it. Nexium did wonders for me when I was having some trouble. Don't think I had an ulcer, but anytime I ate or drank anything, it just stung like mad. Took nexium, and in even just one day I felt so much better. Haven't had it again since. Best of luck to you and hang in there....you'll be better soon! Happy Easter!

Hi Theresa,
I am on Prevacid Solutab, but not without issues. My insurance will only pay for 30 tabs a month and my surgeon has increased my dose to 60 a month. Now I have to call the surgeon every 2 weeks so he can call and get prior authorization to have it filled a second time each month. This is a big pain in the butt since it is very hard to get this done before I run out. This past month, I went without the Prevacid for almost the whole second half of the month, and the pain was incredible. This is the fourth month I have had to wait as long as 10 days for the office to get this prior auth. thing done, so I usually end up buying them out of pocket, at nearly $5 a pill. At least when I have to pay for them, the pharmacy lets me get as many or as few as I can afford at a time.
When I don't take the Prevacid, I have stinging pain no matter what...it helps for a few minutes if I eat something like crackers or bread, but the stinging comes back in just a few minutes. I finally begged the office to put me back on the capsules because the insurance will pay for those as written. Can you believe that? $5 a pill?? That's just ridiculous. I know Nexium is pretty pricy too but I wonder if my insurance will pay for them as written?(Delaware Medicaid.)
