I just got off the phone with Debbie, she had posted earlier that she thought she may have a blockage. She called Dr. Pilkington and came down to Mount Pleasant where she was in the ER and then had labs done, and he took her in for an Endoscopy. Turns out that she has an Ulcer. She is happy to be home, and not to have a blockage. (as we all would be) Dr P gave her Nexium and other than a scratchy, dry throat from the endoscope, she's resting at home now but would greatly appreciate your words of encouragement and support. Having had a blockage myself, I understand her concern. Please either post well wishes for her here or, post them on her support page located at : http://obesityhelp.com/morbidobesity/members/status.php?N=M1100925250 With all my hugs, from your Debbie's Angel, Stacey W

Thanks Stacey for posting the update. Got some sleep last nite and feeling little better. Man got on scale and I lost 6 pounds yesterday. Not a good way to do it for sure but will take it. Well everyone have a wonderful Easter and I will enjoy my clear fluids today and next couple of days. Hugs to all Debbie M

Debbie, I can sooooo relate to the ulcer thing! I am still fighting with mine. Did they do the h.pylori test while they were in there? You need antibiotics to get rid of those little ulcer causing buggers. I lost 15 pounds over a few weeks with mine and it was NOT the way to do it OUCH!! I hope you heal up soon and feel better. This is not to scare anyone but I thought it should be posted here as well. I copied this from another board. It is very sad and a BIG wake up call. PLease don't let anyone dismiss anything unless you are comfort about with the results. Post Date: 4/7/07 6:24 am I haven't posted here in a long time (I am almost 4 years post op) but your posting was extremely important!! My friend Patricia DIED 2 mos ago because of an undiagnosed bowel obstruction (She was also almost 4 years post rny). She had terrible stomach pains diagnosed at the hospital as food poisoning six mos b4 her death. Six mos later she again. developed severe pains one evening and was dead 12 hours later from a bowel obstruction. The doctor covering for her weight loss surgeon (who was out of town) told her to drink some warm tea nad sea if the pain subsides. No one at the ER (large major hsopital with obesity surgery wing) diagnosed the problem...did not show on cat scan....until exploratory surgery while she was on life support...and then it was 2 late to save her. It seems we are prone to a type of internal hernia in the "Peterson space" that can become strangulated and cause death. It kis rare. Only way to absolutely diagnose it is through surgery and it does not seem to matter if you are several years out. They used to think it only happened in the first few years but are now finding people 4+ years out with this problem. We must be aggressive in seeking treatment for all stomach pains. Please all of you with this terrible pain talk to your surgeon and ask about this type of internal hernia.
