Having troubles.....HELP
Hi Crystal,
Your brain is still adjusting. And I recall post op, I wanted to CHEW so bad.
How to get past this takes time, and there is no magic answer. It's something we've all been through. And each day gets better than the last.
Keep yourself focused on why you had the surgery, keep your chin up, and remember that you CAN do this!
The liquid is only temporary. Perhaps you might want to see if you can eat ice chips. That is crunchy, and allows you to "chew" and I'd check with your WLS prior to trying that. (just to make sure)
For now, remember that liquids is temporary, then comes pureed, then soft, then food. And when you begin to look back, it won't be so bad.
Hope this helps you....it is rough but you have the strength to handle it!

Hey Crystal
I am so sorry you are having trouble sweetie... I made a split pea and lentil soup today it is loaded with protein and tastes awesome.. and the more soups you try the better it feels great and don't worry about the chewing...LOL I chew the bugs bunny every morning... and nite..ewww....lol
I bought Muscle milk choc pudding which gives me 20 grams of protein and it is good you kinda have to chew that....just think postive and maybe on Monday Dr Kam will tell you you can go on purees already!!
lets keep our fingers crossed!!
If you need me just e-mail me...K Hun

i got really tired of sweet tasting stuff.........one thing that alot of people have done is go to wendys and get their chili and then blend it up--based on how thick you can handle...........i lived on chili for the first couple months.........it was tolerated well by my pouch and gave me a sense of fullness too! good luck hon! it all moves through its phases..........remember that you thoughts, tastes and attitudes change weekly (as well as your weight) its a good ride......just go with it! hug rae
Crystal:
This is TOTALLY normal and is a mental challenge. I know right now it is not easy to hear, but this time will go by and you will be able to chew normal food. When I was going through it, I thought I'd be eating like this for the rest of my life. It was hard to go through emotionally. Believe me when I say this will pass soon. The first non-liquid thing I ate was some cottage cheese. I thought it tasted like heaven and I don't really like cottage cheese all that much. Things WILL get better soon. Hang in there and know that as the pounds melt off you, you will realize the short-term sacrifice is well worth it. Keep smiling!

Yah....I am wondering about the hunger thing too. Its one of the most important things I wanted as an outcome of this surgery---to get rid of the constant nagging hunger. Nope! I am just finishing my 6th week post op and STILL get hungry. I figured it was okay when I was on the liquid because it was just liquid. But now, I want some answers! I'm not drinking with my food either. Maybe its the tea I am drinking.
I so know your pain...... I agree with John I went with the cottage cheese and chewed the hell out of it !!!!! lots of soups healthy choice split pea in the blender ... and ricotta cheese warmed up with just a little tomato sauce yummy!!!! send me so mail if you need to .... all I know is one day its there and the next day it was gone.... it is still raising its ugly head every so often... Are you coming to the meeting Wednesday?
