Denied today by MESSA and have some questions

I was denied today by MESSA and am going to appeal. I had a BMI of 36 when I started this process and am now up to about 40 due to the stress of waiting and what not. I'm determined to do this. I wanted to know if people have had any luck with MESSA and also wanted to know what kind of payment plans people are getting for self-pay. My husband is cheap, but I'm desparate.

Sorry that you got denied. Most insurance policies will approve for 40 BMI without comorbidities. I don't know if that was your situation, but hopefully with your new info they will approve on appeal. I don't specifically know MESSA requirements though. Hoping you're successful on appeal.

Amy: I am so sorry to hear about being denied. I have MESSA insurance and had the surgery 3 years ago this month....they paid for everything. Did they say why they denied it? My BMI was higher than yours, but I found them to be very easy to work with. Does it have anything to do with the doctor you are working with? Good luck, and keep me posted. Tracey

Girl I know it's easier said than done.. but don't give up.. PLEASE DON'T.. I understand what you're dealing with... You have to KNOW that you'll come thru this and that you WILL eventually be approved.. it's only a matter of time... It'll hapen for you sooner once you stay in an attitude of beleif.. I'll be praying.. Because my God can do ANYTHING but fail!!!!

I'm am sorry for you. I just applied to Messa BCBS. I haven't got an answer yet. How long did it take before you heard back from them. Do you have and co-morbid conditions? Does your surgery recommend you do anything to get approval?

Don't ever stop trying thats what they want you to do I was denied over a year ago and I was so depressed I am now waiting on my second approval. But don't ever give up I do think you will get it they just want to see us fight for it good luck
