I have been mainly a lurker on here for about 6 years so I've seen a lot of people come and go. I miss KP's posts. He kept things interesting. Tomorrow the 15th will be my 5 year anniversary. I had my surgery (RNY) at Alma hospital. The surgeon that did my surgery left the practice in August of that year. Mainly I was on my own. I did attend support groups and still do. Now more to encourage people having surgery. I lost 205 pounds since my surgery. I went from a tight 28 to a 12 or 14. I have not had any plastics as the main area of hanging skin is arms and legs. Also I do not think I could face another surgery. I had a hernia repair the December after my surgery and the following year the mesh tore. The surgeon I see said unless it bothers me he'd leave it alone. Although the doctor doesn't agree I believe it keeps me from eating more. I can eat more earlier in the day. By supper time I don't eat much more than I did in the beginning. I am posting more to tell the older people to go for it. Would I do it again? In a heart beat. I can't say enough good things about this surgery . I forgot to say I was 62 when I had my surgery. Judy Shock

Good for you Judy! I am glad you are doing well and happy with the results. I too am very happy with my outcome, I deal with the low iron and hemaglobin, but it is worth it for all the other benefits that come with being a "normal" person. Thank you for your post and keep us informed how your doing from time to time. Wendy

Dear Judy! yea for you--you are an inspriation to all of us! Keep posting--you will help so many! with regard to your mesh--should you need to undergoe surgery again for your hernia, you might want to think about Dr. Dinick....although he is plastics he also will do hernia repair when he is doing tummy tuck.........and he doesnt use mesh, he works with the muscle to reattach which often has a better holding outcome....just a thought...........again congrats on you wonderful success! hug rae ps i miss kp too
