Recommend a surgeon in Saginaw/Bay City, Mi area?
Hi Carol,
I only know one person who had it there and she is doing well, she was there first patient, but it was done by the surgeon that was teaching the surgeon that is at Bay Med. I don't know if they are a center of excellents and some insurance companies won't cover anywhere who is not a center of excellence. I do know that Covenant is developing a bariatric program, but I am not sure when it will be up and running. One of my clients is in on the project, but I am not sure where they are in the process. I haven't talked to her in about a month or so. Either way they are both fairly new programs.
I lead the Bay City support group. I would love for you to join us. We won't be meeting in Bay City this month though, we will be meeting in Frankenmuth at Phyllis G.'s home. We would love for you to join us if you like. If you would like to join us let me know. We will be meeting this Wed. April 18th at 6:30. If you would like directions Phyllis has them posted here on the board. Please let me know. We love new comers. It is a great, warm and friendly group. Looking forward to meeting you. God Bless and take care.----Toni
Hi Carol,
I would recommend Dr. Cudjoe out of Gratiot Medical Center in Alma Michigan. They don't do the the Mini Bypass but they are great surgions and care about there patients. I had the full Roux-en-y done 18 months ago and I feel great. You can check the hospital out by going to www.midmichigan.org/bariatrics GOOD LUCK WITH WHAT EVER SURGERY YOU CHOOSE!

Hi Carol, I have been doing a whole lot of research and found that the only place to have it done in Michigan is in Bay City and it is not covered by insurance from what I was told. None of the bariatric hospitals that I spoke with would even recommend the mini bypass because it is not covered by insurance companies. It sounds like the best of both worlds when you watch the video on the internet but I guess it is a remake of a previous type of gastric bypass surgery and not alot of them done so far. I hope this helps. I am going for my group meeting at the Barix Center in Ypsilanti on April 26.
Good Luck, Patti.
