What an awesome weekend we are going to have with the weather! So who is using this weather to do some yardwork? I've got so much to do its almost overwhelming! The next three Saturdays are taken up with other stuff, so I'd like to get as much done as possible today. It always seems like I just get done with the yardwork and its already July. I hate that because I spend June doing work around the house, when I could be out enjoying the weather with more leisurely activities. Don't get me wrong, I really like yardwork. But I only like it for the exercise. I got a quote for someone to come and do the cleanup work whi*****luded putting more mulch down, putting down weed preventer in the beds, refreshing the natural edging around the beds; and he wanted to charge me $1100. He's on crack! It didn't even include doing the weeding! Geez....I'm in the wrong business if that is the "going rate" for something like that!

Hey Mary, I am one of those people that likes to have a nice yard but doesn't like to do it myself. We also got a quote on some sod, etc. that was outrageous. So now I'm the only house on my block that doesn't have a perfectly maintained yard. I see my neighbors spending all weekend out there and I just can't bring myself to do it. I have work, school, kids, and my old pal TiVo to take care of.....how can I do yard work too? So good luck with your yard this weekend.....I hope you get a lot done. And when you're done, if you want to come to Westland, we've got lots for you to do !

LOL...I am anxious to see how much better I am at the yardwork now that I'm about 45 pounds lighter than last year. I used to get so overworked that I would get tremendous headaches and almost feel like I'm going to pass out. I don't think that will be the case this time around. So, I will just have to post a WOW moment, huh? We'll see. And...don't forget...the grass is always greener on the other side of the fence. Oh...and "over the septic tank"....hehehe.

Oh I did yard work yesterday! It was so relaxing. I am one of those freak people that actually enjoys doing it. I redid some mulch, moved a plant, feed some more plants, and just tidied up out there. I did the front but I really need to get in the back and remove the leaves from around the irises I planted. I plan on being out in the yard again tomorrow but for today I plan on going bike riding and burning a ton of calories!!! I love this weather. I wi**** was like this year round.

UPDATE: Well, I got my slackin butt outside at about noon. There was just so much to do that it was overwhelming. I worked straight for 7 hours, taking breaks to drink my "brown champagne". (What is brown champagne you ask? Its what I call my iced tea. Prior to surgery, I used to like drinking champagne. Let me tell ya'---I could drink alot of it. I know, it was an addiction. So now, I transferred my champagne addiction to iced tea and jokingly call it brown champagne. I seriously LOVE the stuff. I mix some varying types depending on their healing qualities and taste. One of the teas I include is joint comfort tea. I was also using weight control tea that had chromium picolonate in it but ran out of that. I also use some decaf Chai Spice. That tea not only tastes fantastic, it smells fantastic too!) Anyway....back on the subject. I am really proud of myself for the amount I got accomplished. I never would have thought I could get this much done. I couldn't have done this much pre-op. I weeded all the planting beds (we have alot of them and some of them are very large). Sprinkled the weed preventer Preen in the beds and then turned the mulch in half of the beds. Fertilized the pine tree seedlings we planted a couple of years ago and fluffed up the mulch around those. There are 7 of them. Trimmed the fountain grasses--about 10 of those. Planted 8 more fountain grasses. I trimmed my 4 rose bushes. Lastly, I changed out the batteries on the solar landscape lights. Now do you see why I was dreading this? Everything is still not done. But my husband is going to finish what I couldn't get to tomorrow. Word of advice---If you are planning on doing yard work tomorrow--Sunday--don't forget to wear your sunscreen!

WOW I cannot believe how much you got done. I did the mulch thing the other night too. I need to go out today (Sunday) to do the backyard now. I also have a compost pile that I need to turn and work on a bit. It sounds like your yard is big and you love your plants like I do. I need to trim my rose bush a bit too. I hope to be able to get some sun today while I am out. Enjoy!!
