I am planning to start protein drink this week to get ready for surgery. I am terrible with ordering online- I hate to wait. Any recommendations for ready made drinks that I can buy at local stores- GNC, Target, Meijers. I prefer ready made because I am on the go alot. Internet sources are greatly appreciated for later use Also, I don't do well with milk.

i like the isopure bottled drinks... 20 oz gives you 40 grams of protein, no fat, no carbs... it's got a sort of milk-y taste to it (it's a whey protein), but i got used to it pretty quick... i picked mine up at a vitamin shoppe near me... they had a case of 12 for 36 bucks. pricey, but convenient...

My favorite is Muscle Milk in the premix. I buy it at Kroger, Meijer and GNC. I really like it. But I will tell you DON'T stock up on anything. Just because you like it now doesn't mean you will after surgery. Your tastes really change for the first 6 mo. or so nothing really tastes all that good. Anything sweet tastes waaaay to sweet. by the time you are off liquids you won't want to look at pudding, jello or popsicles for at least a year....LOL I had to learn these things the hard way. I wasted alot of money on things I couldn't stand after surgery. Protien drinks aren't cheap so you don't want to waste money. A lot of the online places do offer sample pack so that you can try a variety without wasting money. Good luck ----Toni

"by the time you are off liquids you won't want to look at pudding, jello or popsicles for at least a year" Isn't THAT the truth!!! I bought some pudding after I was off the liquids/soft and haven't been able to bring myself to eat it. No yogurt or cottage cheese either. The popsicles, I finally gave to my kids, and jello...forget it! I thought it was just me...some weird issue I had.

Where are u having your surgery? the only protein drink I can tolerate is HMR, I get in online and it only takes 2-3days. If u buy anything in local stores..keep the receipt" u can always take things back even if they are open. Whole Foods and GNC will to that.Target and Meijers won't if they are open. Please email me and I will give u all the hints and tricks I did. Thanks.. Robin [email protected]

Whey Protein by Body Fortress protein drink mix is the best!! I get Chocolate and Vanilla for variety in puddings, yogurts, etc (you can add it to these for better nutrition) Its only 11 Bucks at Walmart!! Also, a product called BENEFUL or BENEPROTEIN by Novartis is EXCELLENT if you dont like the flavored proteins-these can be added to almost anything and are fairly taste-free-thats sometimes a GOOD thing when you get sick of the shakes!!! ANyway, hope these Tips help!! Best of luck!!
