Hello all. I am semi new here. I have lurked a lot until recently getting serious about RNY. I thought it might be time to join you all. Is anyone familiar with Dr. Kam at Barix in Ypsilanti? I am meeting with him on Thursday for my first consult. Any info would be appreciated. I am excited, yet EXTREMELY nervous!!! Thanks, Heather

I am also new here, but I might be able to offer some advice. My surgeon was Dr. Schram at Barix in Ypsilanti/Holland and he was wonderful, as well as all the staff at Barix. I am pretty sure Dr. Kam used to work for Sparrow Weight Management in Lansing, but I could be wrong. The named sounds awfully familiar. He was a friend of mine's surgeon and she said he was wonderful. Good luck!

Hi Heather, Dr. Kam was my surgeon. He is awesome! I am a nurse and have very high standards regarding surgical skill and care. I have no hesitation in recommending him (and I have to a number of people who have used him and are very happy!). Feel free to email me if you have any questions Blessings!!

Hi Heather, I had my surgery 3 weeks ago and Dr. Kam was my surgeon. He is simply amazing. I will warn you though...He is strictly business-like. Don't expect much small talk, if any. He likes to stick to the facts and get his message through to you. If you want a surgeon with a friendly, personable bedside manner, Dr. Kam is not for you. I'm not knocking him. I'm simply speaking the truth about him. He did a fantastic job on my RNY and I would recommend him to anyone. I have had no problems whatsoever, and it seems to me that most of us here who've had him have had relatively few, if any, problems after their surgery. The previous poster could be right. I think Dr. Kam did work in Lansing, because at my consultation with him he talked about how Barix had bought his house from him so that he could move to the Ypsi area and work. I liked the fact that they "hunted" him, which meant he must be good at what he does! Sorry for the book-length reply. Let me know if you have any other questions. I do love the guy Anna
