Okay so I haven't been here in like FOREVER and I can't figure out how to make my profile the "new" version!! Not sure if anyone is still around that will remember me as I was not a big poster when I was around regularly!! A lot has been going on in my life and I just haven't had a lot of time for the computer and since I'm starting school on Monday...I'm thinking that's going to continue to be the case!!! But as always, when I have a question/concern that has anything to do with weight loss surgery....I turn to the experts...all of you!!!! I'm having a problem and I'm not sure if it is surgery related or not but it is definitly food/eating related!!! Let me start by CONFESSING that I have NOT been completely compliant recently!!! Last Sunday I made french toast and sausage for my kids and decided I would have a piece along with a couple of sausage links!! Shortly after consuming this yummy breakfast, I had HORRIBLE pains in my stomach...feeling like REALLY BAD gas that refuses to come out!!! I laid down for a little bit and that seemed to ease things up but for the rest of the day I just couldn't eat or drink much of anything!!! Monday I hardly ate cuz it just hurt if I eat!! Started feeling better on Tuesday and Wednesday but still being VERY careful of what I was eating!! Not as careful as I should have been on Thursday and the pain intensified Thursday night...woke up Friday morning and I had discomfort instantly!! Ate some chicken at work on Friday for lunch and was in HORRIBLE pain again ALL DAY Friday!! Today I'm still feeling the discomfort and it's just ALWAYS there now!! It's on the left side!! If I even drink water, I get shooting pains and then it subsides but the discomfort is just constantly there!! If I stretch and move certain ways it's uncomfortable...not PAINFUL just a lot of discomfort to remind me that something is going on!! I know you are all going to say I need to see a doctor and I totally and completely agree!! However, I thought it was getting better and would go away and now it's the weekend and I'm starting school Monday morning so it's just going to have to wait until I get home from school on Monday!! I definitely PLAN on going to my doc but now with my insurance, I can't just go to my surgeon, I have to go to my PCP and HOPE she will give me a referral to my bariatric doc but I'm thinking she won't!!! I guess at this point, I just need a doctor to tell me what is going on...but until then...ANY IDEAS???? I'm thinking that I could be constipated, however I have been having regular bowel movements...just not like I usually do now that I'm really thinking about it!! I took two maximum strength Ex-lax last night and had a bowel movement this morning but nothing to "write home about"!!! Does this sound serious? Should I go to ER? What to do, what to do????? Any suggestions would be GREATLY appreciated!!!!!

Be really careful...alot of those symptions sound like when I had a twisted bowel. I don;t want to scare you, but please call your doctor. I went to the ER, and when they found out I was a bariatric patient, refused to treat me,and sent me to my surgeon. After three weeks, I had major surgery. Was told I was lucky I had not died. I am sure all is fine, but get it checked out ASAP. Take care, and keep me posted. Tracey

Yes please see your Dr. It sounds like what I had before we did a scope and found out that I have an ulcer. He thought he would find something stuck in the pouch but nope. He gave me meds and has helped alot. I do have to go again in July to be scoped again and make sure that it is healing. But my pain is gone so pretty sure it is helping. I hope you find out whats going on soon and feel better. Hugs Debbie M

The pain is a telltale sign that something is up. Sounds like it could be an ulcer. Go see the doc to be on the safe side. Jon

call your doctor's office and tell the answering service that it is urgent. Your doctor will call you back. You should not be in pain that long unless it's "something". what? we don't know, we're not doctors. Maybe your doc will give you the authorization to go to emergency and get it checked out. Stay away from laxatives until you talk to your doctor. It sounds like you're not constipated and they may just increase your discomfort. good luck. remember, pain = CALL YOUR DOCTOR.

Okay so after reading everyone's advice...which is EXACTLY what I KNEW you would all say...and having had a VERY long night last night being in pain and trying to have a bowel movement and aspirated vomit in my sleep three different times...I called my PCP this morning and she wants me to get over to the ER...my daughter has an orchestra concert this afternoon at two so as soon as we are done there my DH and I will head to the ER!! Unfortunately my doc is not part of the hospital I'd prefer to go to so I will go to the hospital she has told me to go to and not like it!! LOL!! I really need to find me a decent PCP out of St. John's!!! So I will let you all know what the findings are as soon as I have a chance!! Please say a prayer that it's nothing serious and I'm still able to start school tomorrow morning!!!
