Clutch Cargos
Being a new comer to these parts tonight was my first visit to Clutch Cargos. Interesting place. I need to be fumigated now to remove the smell of smoke,
The concert (The Arctic Monkeys) was awesome. But the place was packed. I was assaulted by a 5' teenage girl! She kicked me!!!!!
There's a lot of good music up here. Detroit really does rock. I'm glad to be here.
Friday night is Elvis Costello at The State!!!!!

i always thought it was called "motown" because it's where all the motorcars were made.
unfortunately i haven't seen too much local talent but i do love The Stooges and The White Stripes both of who originate from Detroit. I know Eminem, Bob Seger and Ted Nugent are also local and a lot of the "motown" music of course but none of that is really my thing.
I'm going to have to use Google and find out who else if from Detroit, after all, they also call it Detroit Rock City.

Actually, motown was a record label and production company of Barry Gordy, who helped many get there start, Diana Ross, for one of many. Motown records isn't in production anymore. Many refer to Detroit as the Motor City. You are right, detroit is known for there music industy and cars, but the sad part is that both are quickly fading in Detroit. The sixties and seventies where probably the height of the music industry in Detriot. Yes, Bob Segear is the great Motor City Mad Man!!! Ohhhh geees now I have "Turn the Page" stuck in my head....LOL. AHHHH....The good ole' days.
i must be older than you since i know the MC5.
""MC5 (short for Motor City Five) was a hard rock band formed in Detroit, Michigan, USA in 1964 and active until 1972. The band consisted of Wayne Kramer and Fred "Sonic" Smith (guitars) Michael Davis (bass), Rob Tyner (vocals), and Dennis Thompson (drums).
They had a promising beginning, known especially for their energetic live performances, which earned them a cover appearance on Rolling Stone magazine in 1968 even before their debut album was recorded. The MC5's career was ultimately short-lived due to personal and political tensions, and they were largely forgotten when they broke up. Within just a few years of their dissolution, however, the MC5 were often cited as one of the most important American hard rock groups of their era: their three albums are regarded as classics, and they exerted an influence on metal and especially punk rock. The widely-covered "Kick Out the Jams" is probably their best-known song."""
Clutch Cargos....I just had a major flashback to my early college days. WOW! LOL
If you want to hear a really good band you should check out Blackberry Brandy. I have been listening to them for years. They play at a few different places during the weekend. They actually play at a few places during the week too.
