I had my check up and my blood work for my 3 month check up. I am doing good..but as I stated in my recent post that I had thought I would have lost a bit more than I did. Welllll.........Dr Carlin said the same thing. It turns out.....dumb me...as I got feeling better, and thinking everything else was improving, I thought my thyroid would also improve. NOT!!! I had stopped taking my thyroid meds. Well it was so bad...that was why my weight loss hasn't been more. My last post I was down to 30 units of insulin. As of last wednesday.....I am n longer on insulin at all!!! I was taking Metformin for a week....but it makes me very nauseous so my PCP said to stop that for now and lets monitor my sugars and see where they are. I may not need it at all. And since I have been back on my thyroid meds, 1 week, I have lost 5 pounds!!!! in 1 week!!! So hopefully my weight loss will pick up again. So 13 weeks post op I am down now 38 pounds. Think about a wagon full of fat, 38 pounds of it....pretty ugly. LOL. I remember Oprah doing a show with that. And for the WOW! moment...I can cross my legs!! Felt so good about it I pampered myself with a pedicure!!! Got a sext french manicure on my toes to surprise hubby with. Oh La La!!! Gonna step up my excercise a bit too. Does anyone know a rough guesstimate of the cost of Curves?? Or the cost of Fitness USA? are they the same kind of work out? I need to add something like this in.....

The Curves here is something like $49 a month. I went to Dunham's and bought a home gym for $200. I use it 3 days a week and with it standing right where I can see it when I get out of bed, it's hard to talk myself out of using it. This is one piece of exercise equipment that is not a coat rack. I can do my arms, legs and abs in one workout.

Deborah: When I went to the Curves in Plymouth (it's been over a year now) it was $30.00 a month. So it might have gone up a little, but I think it is still in the $30 - $40 range per month. In my opinion, it was worth it. I looked at it as $1.00 a day. I did give it up for the summer, figuring I would walk in the nice weather. But that was a mistake and I wish I would have kept it going. Good luck!

Your doing good Debra...remember slow and steady wins the race.... I think sometime we all get to caught up in the numbers of lbs we lose and success is measured by so many other factors. Keep up the GOOD Work !!!!

Hi Debbie, Glad to hear that your weight loss has picked up again! Mine has come to a standstill, so I'm hoping it will pick back up soon. Maybe one of these days we'll actually be able to attend a HF support group meeting together, like we've wanted to! Take care, Susan

Yep -- that's correct. The group with Annette the dietitian meets on the second Tuesday of every month. The relapse prevention group meeting with Dr. Eschelman meets the second Thursday of the month (for people who are 6 months or more post-op). And the support group meeting with Dr. Eschelman meets on the fourth Tuesday of the month -- this next meets on May 22. I'd love to be able to attend a meeting with you, if your work schedule permits! ~Susan~
