Weird thing happened...
Weird thing happened tonight. I've been on my liquid diet since Tuesday. I've been drinking boost, having yogurt, and Carnation Instant Breakfast. Along with that the nutritionist said I could have broth. So tonight, for the first time I thought I'd fix a cup of Chicken boulion. I took two sips - it tasted good but OMG, I almost lost it. I thought for sure I was going to vomit - now mind you I HAVEN'T HAD MY SURGERY YET! Has anyone else experienced this PRE-OP? What would cause this.
Paul
Hi Paul-maybe it is because chicken boullion is terrible! grin just a suggestion--unjury has a chicken flavored protein supplement that you might want to try--and you can add it to other things too for flavor and protein enhancement. the other thing you can try--is take a chicken based canned soup and just drink the broth from there.......it is better than the stuff that just comes from those cubes (who ever saw a square chicken!) just some ideas. You are almost to your surgery! good luck......it will be such a wonderful experience (grin not the surgery but the outcome)stay focused and use us to support you! hug, rae
I think it was the chicken bullion too. Yuck! I think it's better to take some chicken noodle soup, heat it and strain out the noodles and other things and drink the broth. You will get the vitamins and a whole lot more flavor. I know that my tastes changed after my surgery (I couldn't stand yogurt before) but I didn't have any problems before hand.
So this reminded me of when I was a little girl. My sister and I would love staying overnight at my grandparents house for sleepovers. After dinner my grandparents would have a cup of coffee while watching the news. Of course, my sister and I wanted to have coffee too --- but we were too young. So we'd get "Chicken Coffee". LOL! Warm tap water with a chicken bullion cube in it. Oh my! How on earth did we ever thing this was a special treat? hehehe
Anyway... rather than doing chicken bullion, try real chicken broth. You can buy it in the soup isle at the grocery story and it's much better tasting that the fake stuff. Or you could make your own by boiling chicken with some veggies (carrots, onions, celery), then straining the broth.
Good luck!
