Hi! I'm brand new here, just had my consultation with Dr. Kam on Tuesday:) I am looking for someone to do my psych eval and wondered if you could tell me who has done them for those of you who have used Barix in Ypsilanti. I live about 1-1/2 hours away from there in a small town and would rather drive to someone who does these on a regular basis and who will know what paperwork I need and do it in a timely fashion. Can you tell I'm anxious to get scheduled? Thanks so much for your help! Amy

Hi, I am going through Barix and just had my psych eval last Friday. I used Dr. Medick at the Barix clinic. I also had the same question because I live an hour from there and didn't want to travel but it is well worth it. Another board member told me of him and it was great advice. If you go to another dr. for the eval they may have you going to more than one session and do you really want to do that? Dr. Medick is very good and it is well worth the $150.00 to go see him, your insurance may reimburse too. He is worth the time and drive to get it done and out of the way, these people through barix want to see this happen for you, it is their business. He is very experienced in the desease of obesity and I feel is a great choice especially if you want to get the ball rolling. Best of luck on yuor journey. Patti ps: I think he is only in on Fridays so call now and get and appointment if your interested. I just make a short day trip out of my drive and make astop at a book store or some other store that I usually dont stop at frequently. Good Luck.

I had my Primary care physician refer me to someone. I am a bit away from Barix.

Amy, I also used Dr. Medick at Barix. He was right to the point, [no 400 question surveys to fill out] or anything. The appointment took me about 25 minutes and within a week Barix had his letter. I have bcbsm, but the Dr. takes only cash. So, he gave me a receipt and I will submit myself to my insurance. I live about 50 mins away from the clinic, so I just took the whole day off work. good luck. Belinda

Thanks so much for all of the info! I have an appt with my PCP tomorrow to hopefully get my referral letter and an EKG. Then the psych consult will be the only other thing I need:) I just want to make sure I'm on top of things and proactive, so I can get this accomplished! I've been inspired by many of the posts on this site and hope to have as great an outcome as many of you have!
