Guiness no longer has such a record. Past requests like this have been hoaxes. If you look the boy's name up on Google you will find some interesting information. There is a very good possibility that he doesn't exist either. Take a look at www.snopes.com which is a very reputable site to check these things. If you type Adkins in the search box, you will be linked to information on similar hoaxes. It is wonderful that you are such a caring person, but I am afraid that you are being misled.

are you sure it's a hoax? I don't see anything at Snopes claiming it's a hoax. I do see this site: http://www.thecancerblog.com/2006/03/01/boy-with-cancer-and-best-friend-try-to-break-recor d-in-get-well/ although that doesn't mean it's legit. also finding this on google which again does not confirm it as a hoax: http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&safe=off&client=firefox-a&rls=org.mozilla%3Aen-US%3Aoff icial&hs=Ilx&q=%22josh+adkins%22+hoax&btnG=Search what info did you find to make you afraid that she's being misled?

Again, put the name in the search box on Snopes, it takes you to the page of record setting card situations. There is no record to set. Guinness, the source of wonderful carbohydrates and world records has done away with that category. Googling the supposed name brings up some varying thoughts, and nothing there convinces me that this is real. And where is the logic in a terminal person wanting cards saying "Get well"? But that is my own comment, just like my curiosity as to how they will take them with them... I'm cynical, but this has been a hoax many times, and has caused cards to be delivered long after the intended recipient died in another instance. The fact that Snopes goes to that hoax on a simple search of the last name makes me question it.

If it is such an obvious hoax, i'm disappointed in Snopes for not coming out and saying so. It's not exactly something that would be hard to verify/disprove.

I read about this also ! I don't believe it's a hoax and plan on sending a card. Thanks for letting everyone know. ~~Rona

Ok now, I have to put my two cents in. I have been wondering lately everytime I reaad about poor Josh just who is he. I went to Ida's profile and saw that he is an ADULT MALE but nothing to tell me if he was related to her. I also noticed that Ida posted on every forum abouthim as if we all knew him. Well, now I see the site above that says he is real...but it says he is a LITTLE BOY!! Can we say hoax? I think so. Sorry Ida.
