SUMMER PICNIC???

IS THERE ANY ONE WITHIN THE DETROIT METRO AREA PLANNING A PICNIC??? I WAS AT THE OH SEMINAR, AND THEY HANDED OUT A FLYER FOR THE WEST SIDE OF MI.  I WAS JUST WONDERING. WE WERE ALL THERE TO BE SOMEWHAT BORED AND HARDLY NO MINGLING, I THINK THAT IF THERE WERE ANY INTERESTS FOR A LOCAL GET TOGETHER IT WOULD BE MORE FUN!!!

It's a great idea to have a picnic. However it takes a lot of work and planning and many are all ready swamped (including me) With that said I would definitely try to make it if we had one but my own schedule is so chaotic that it may not happen and so I could not commit until even the last minute.

This time of the year is busy but that doesn't mean we couldn't have a picnic... pick a park, make it a bring your own cooler event and all who can come should... Metro Detroit/Southeastern MI? Maybe an area at Kensington? There's a first come first serve pavillion over off 6 mile and Northville Rd too. I'm not sure it's actually Hines Park, but it's really close. I'd love to meet everyone since I missed the OH event, any other ideas? lexia

This is a fabulous idea.    I would go to the one across state, but the gas would kill me.   If it's something closer i would go like maybe on a saturday afternoon.    What do you all think? Linda

Linda, gas over here is actually cheaper than around Southfield.  In Sand Lake it's $3.28 and in Howard City, it's $3.31.  We made the trip to Southfield on less than a tank of gas in our Ford Focus.

Ann is it you having the picnic?    I know i seen a flyer at the event saturday but i seen big rapids and didn't get one.   Money is real tight with me right now, but maybe we can get a bunch to carpool.    Is it a bring your own kind of thing or what?   Can you post the info?    Thanks Linda

I've got a suggestion....we have a 26 foot pontoon with a changing station and toilet.  We dock it at Pontiac Lake Marina.  The lake has hydroplane races in July.  We could have a party on the boat!

I do know that Dr. Wood and Taylor are planning a picnic in August, patient appreciation.  It was fun last year   I don't know the date yet.  I do know that the first support group meeting in August, the 8th is a picnic planning meeting. Ann,  I would love to come to the Big Rapids picnic.  I'll probably be going to Grand Rapids often this summer if my brother is getting chemo, so I'd be closer. Then the party on the pontoon boat sounds fun also. Jeanne

Well Jeanne,  I wonder if I will actually get an invitation THIS year!! I didn't last year. I figured I was far enough out that I didn't matter anymore....LOL
