Local Detroit newspapers

Ok I need some help from my Detroit friends.  I need to know the what the local news papers are around the area to where I can find a job.  I decieded to make the move to the east side of the state. to be closer to the guy that I am seeing.  So I work in the medical field and special in billing and coding.   Thank Tricia

I don't know about all the local papers, but the big ones are the Free Press and the Detroit News.  However, if you go to www.mlive.com and click on jobs, you can find jobs listed in newspapers all over the state.  Just a thought.  Good luck! 

Hi Tricia, I'm slightly outside of Detroit, in Ann Arbor, and with U of M and St Joe's here, you may want to check this area as well. Papers are the Ann Arbor News and the U of M website is very user friendly for job hunting. St Joe's is as well. Can I ask, do you do mostly review work or billing entry?  Donna

I do mostly charge entry insurance follow up and collections, customer service.  I have done coding in the past but I am not certified.  Tricia

If all those options fail (highly unlikely everything in the medical field is in high demand) you might also try The Oakland Press or the "Hometown" papers, they have branches in Livonia, Plymouth, Northville, Novi, South Lyon, Milford, Brighton and I'm sure several other communities. You may also want to try www.michiganworks.org  it may be .com or .gov if . org doesn't work. Sorry. Anyway, once you get to that site, look for the talent bank. Check in the talent bank to see if there are any jobs that you may be interested in. Good luck on your move and the job hunting. Both are a difficult thing in Michigan these days.

Hi Tricia where in east mi are you planning on moving to?  Toni was right, michiganworks.org is a great start.    You can also go to craigslist.com and go to michigan, there are a lot of good jobs there too.   Also , you can go to monster.com and make a resume that is viewable to employers, that's how i got the job i have now.    Good luck, and maybe we can get together after your move. www.freep.com is the Detroit Free Press.  Or you can use www.monster.com   Some of the majoy Medical Centers in the Detroit Area are, Beumont Hospitals Trinity Health Care St. John Medical Center Detroit Medical Center Mount Clemens Regional Henry Ford Health System They all have job websites, check th em out.   Good Luck Carol

Hi there, You might also try www.micareerbuilder.com  .  Or there are also the Observer & Eccentric newspapers that are big in Oakland county.  There are different ones for each city.  I believe you can even look at their classifieds online.  Good luck with your search. Sheryl
