I am a nervous wreck!!!!!

Hi Everyone I just had to let some feeling out. I am getting banded tomorrow and I am a wreck! My mom had the surgery done 2 weeks ago and EVERY possible thing that could go wrong did. (We have the same Dr. and I think he is great.) The situation is this, my mother is 5'3" and 220ish, she was set for her bandind went through the surgery and when she came out she couldn't keep any thing down. The BAND WAS TOO TIGHT. The dr. thought it would relax and she would be fine to go home the following day. She ended up staying in the hospital for a week and she had to go back and have her band removed. Come to find out the band size they used o her was 4cm and it was way too small, but according to her anatomy and BMI it should fit. GO FIGURE. Anyway now that I am less than 24 hours away from my surgery I am starting toi freak out. I know this is the right thing for me to do. I know that what happened to my mother was a fluke (heck if she is willing to let the dr. go back and do it again, I should be up for the challange.) but that really doesn't ease my worried mind.  Oh well, I'll just have to put it in God's (and Dr. Nunn's) hands and pray for the best possible outcome. Thanks to all who let me vent!!!!!  

I have no band experience so I don't know what to say other than I have never heard of that happening before. Have you checked the lapband board and asked them about this happening? Have you expressed your concerns to the doctor and that you would like to make sure that doesn't happen to you? Good luck with this and I hope it woks well for you. Ahmed

Hi Kourtnie,      My daughter was banded in Aug of 2006; she has had some minor problems ; but overall she has done great. She has lost over 100 lbs now! What goes for one never applies to all, even if it is a realative. Best wishes to your sucess. Sincerely, Judy R

WISHING YOU THE BEST OF LUCK TOMORROW AND WILL BE THINKING OF YOU....I DON'T KNOW MUCH ABOUT THE LAPBAND SO I CAN'T BE OF MUCH HELP TO YOU...BUT YOU HAVE MY SUPPORT IN YOUR JOURNEY!!! HOPE YOU CHECKED OUT THE LAPBAND BOARD AND ASKED THEM QUESTIONS ON YOUR MOTHERS WLS ABOUT WHAT HAPPENED.

just make sure you discuss your concerns with your doc before the dope you up (grin) and you go into surgery........you need to express to him your concerns so that he can help to decrease your fears and anxiety before you go into the OR.....good luck--you will do great!  hug rae
