Waiting for insurance approval

I have been reading the message board off and on for several months.  I have chosen a doctor and have had the preliminary testing.  All the info has been sent to the insuance company-  and now I wait.  I was told by my insurance company that they usually take 7-14 business days to decide, so I hope to hear something soon.  At times I am very nervous and other feel like this is really not happening.  I would love to have RNY surgery before the middle of July, as my first grandbaby is due in September!  I have researched on the net and read several different books.  I have even been trying out some different protein supplements to see what I liked (or didn't).  Any other thoughts the help with the waitting?  Thanks ahead of time for any positive thoughts!!!

Waiting is no fun but you are doing the right thing by getting ready. Start your walking program. Keep track of what you eat and drink and log your activity. Try fitday for this it will help. Try vitamin supplements and see what you like. Start making a recipe book of things you've heard postops make and try them to see if they work for you. Practice being a bariatric for a week - drink protein shakes and eat small frequent meals and drink water all day long. Take a walk in our shoes for a while without the nausea, binders, jp drains and gas. That way you'll know what to expect when you are a GAP. Ahmed

Thanks for the suggestions.  I am looking for recipes for post op- particularly for the liquid and soft food stages.  I have also tried several protein suppliments.  I cant seem to locate a place that carries samples, so I havent tried many of the powders.  I have cut out all caffeine and almost all carbonated beverages.  I hope to have the fewest number of suprises as possible.  Do you know a source for recipes?   Thanks again for your help!!

Did you know that you can check wiht your insurance company yourself ? To see where you are in process. You might to check on it if it has been a few weeks, maybe you can help move things along

Thanks for the reply and suggestion. I talked with a wonderful lady with my insurance company last week.  She told me they usually take 7-14 working days for a decision provided they have all the information required.  They received my file on the 10th so I hope to know something around the first of June.  I cant remember when days took so long to pass!!  I am trying not to chew off all my finger nails.
