Phillips II is a semifinalist in the 22nd annual Leonard Falcone International Euphonium and Tuba Festival. To qualify, Phillips submitted a recording of himself performing on the euphonium. Phillips, who has been accepted to Michigan State University, is a member of the Clawson High School marching band. The final competition will be held at Blue Lake Fine Arts Camp in Twin Lakes in August.
