If I remember correctly....for every cup you are taking that same amount of water from your body....So it is strictly a hydration issue...I asked my surgeon because I kept getting constipated and coffee was the only thing that helped....and he told me to only have 1 cup and then do not count it toward my water intake......I hope this helps...

Not only will it aide in dehydrating you but it is also an appetite stimulant! When I drink something caffeinated I make sure I drink 2 glasses of water for every one caffeine beverage I consume.

Yes it's merely hydration issues. I have a coffee or two in the morning that is caffeinated and then switch to decaf and water for the rest of the day.  I love decaf especially now and could go without my caffeine if I had to. Dawn

I think most of it is the hydration, it is a diuretic. i was told that if i did caffein to drink 2 extra cups for every cup of caffeinated beverage. i am a crystal light lover, have 2 flavors of the evergy, but havent tried them yet. i do notice that if i do too much caffein that i can really get more hungry. teri

I was told at my pre-op meeting by nutrionist that it can cause ulcers also.  Anyone else hear this?
