Hello everyone. I just finished my pre-req for Lap-Band surgery on Friday. Now I wait for approval from my ins. It's BC of MI Community Blue PPO. Does anyone have any input of how long they take to approve? I'm getting very excited.

I'm sorry, I am not seeing the other post I just added.  I am also a patient of Dr. Kam and finished my paperwork on Thursday.  I was approved the same day!  I am now waiting for them to call my insurance BC/BS  PPO community  blue and see if I have a co-pay.  Once that is complete I believe I will get a date.  Sooo, we are in the same boat! GL,  Sarah

Great ! I need a buddy. Nice to meet you. Maybe we can stay in touch and go thru this together. While I was at the clinic for my first appt, the nurse told me that if she was to have the surgery (either one), she would choose Dr. Kam. I think that's good to know.

In my younger years I really didn't like my middle name and would get upset with my mother for such a different name. Now, in our world of cyberspace I have found that it is very available when setting up an account. (Thanks Mom) and thanks to you Sarah. I look forward to calling them tomorrow. I also am going to Barix.

Blue Cross Community Blue PPO does NOT do preapprovals!!!  What I am pretty sure you are waiting for is your surgeons office to make sure all of the i's are dotted and the t's are crossed.  If anything is missing blue cross will deny payment AFTER the surgery is already complete!  Your surgeons office obviously wants to prevent that from happening so they are making sure all is well before surgery, therefore guaranteeing payment from the ins. company.  Most offices have dealt with insurance companies enough to know EXACTLY what needs to be there, I am sure you will get scheduled soon.  Give the office a couple of days to review everything and if you haven't heard by say Wed, then I would call and ask for an update. You are almost there!
