Grand Rapids anyone?

Hello, I just started. I went to my orientation and I was sooo excited that they gave me my next 3 appointments the other day.. The will be June 11 and June 25 07. Anyone living close by and are on the same timing schedule as I? Would love to keep in touch. Havent decided which surgery to do either (I came in 100% on the lapband, but after the orientation, there are a couple others I am considering) Katrina

Treenatreen, I'm almost 1 year out from open RNY and live in Grand Rapids as well.  I'm happy to share my experience with you.  Just let me know what kind of questions you have. Kim

Hi katrina, I RARELY post here (ok, virtually never, cause I forget its here  duh :) )  but am in GR.  I had mine done at mmpc as well.    I'm almost 2 yrs out now, but you can give me a shout anytime you need/want to. also, I think i still have some of their product....i wonder if it keeps that long.....i should prob check....gross.  :lol:   good luck with your decisions!  :)

Katrina, Dr. Foote did my surgery as well.  I too went to the orientation firmly believing I was going to do the lap band but after hearing all that I did, I decided to go with the RNY instead and I'm glad I did it.  There was someone at the orientation that had the lap band done and hadn't lost weight and was going for a revision to RNY.  That plus having to go for fills just didn't sit well.  I came back home from orientation and started the homework all over again.  I discussed it with my husband and PCP and finally came to the conclusion that RNY was for me.  This will have to be your decision but if you have any questions, please feel free to message me by clicking on my profile.  Good luck with whatever decision you make.  It only gets better from here.
