I am three years out.  Wondering what others who are at this point are eating and drinking.  How much?  I am lucky if I get 20 grams of protein in a day....I just have no appetite.  I do drink a lot of ice tea and water, but cant get food down.  Been so long I don;t even remember how much I should be getting in.  Kick in the butts are welcome too!  lol Thanks Tracey

There are MANY long-term complications from not intaking enough protein.  Most importantly, your muscles need protein.  Since your heart is a muscle, you are putting your heart at risk by not intaking enough protein.  You should get in at least 60-80 grams of protein per day.  I eat 4-5 meals per day and always eat protein first.  Have you maintained your original weight loss?  Most people who are further out that eat a heavy carb diet, find putting weight back on.   Jon

I have maintained my original weight loss, and am still losing slowly.  Good point about my heart....had not thought about that.  I am really going to start making a conscious effort to eat.....and eat proein first.  It;'s not that I am eating carbs necessarily...I am just not eating.  My stomach always seems to be upset.  I guess I need to start doing protein drinks again.  Thanks Jon for your info....I was hoping that you would see my post and reply.   Tracey

Thanks Rae for your response.  I just finished a yogurt with a scoop of protein powder....28 grams of protein.  Thanks for the reminder about the vitamins...I am not good about those either. Take Care Tracey

Yes, as the others mentioned the protien first always. I can't say I not a wee bit envious of your lack of appitite and your continued weightloss.  It sounds like you have already taken the steps you need to stay healthy. Good luck and God Bless
God Bless and Take Care.....Toni

What are you doing when you wake up?   When do you eat breakfast, and how much water are you drinking?   Here's what i do.    First of all, make a schedule.   Eat the same times every day.  I eat five to six small meals a day to keep my metabolism up.   When you wake up, drink some protein right away.     Then  an hour or so later, eat breakfast.     I usually eat an egg, or some deli meat.    Then a few hours later i eat something like deli meat ( sometimes i get a piece of ham and mix cream cheese, salt and pepper and spread it on the ham and roll it up. )   or even eat chili.  A few hours later, i'll eat some beef jerky or peanuts.    Then i eat dinner a while later, but i eat meat or protein first, fruits or veggies next and always carbs and fat last.    Then later i usually eat fruit, like grapes or watermelon or oranges, whatever i have.      You have to force yourself to eat, maybe even set an alarm to remind you.    Linda

Thanks Linda.  I am trying to make an effort to get that protein in.  I usually don;t eat till about an hour after I get up....and then have yogurt a few hours later.  I may skip lunch all together and have some cheese and crackers for dinner.  I usually have a banana before I go to bed. SO....I need to eat more protein as you can see. Thanks for all the ideas.... Tracey
