misplaced medical records!
I've been kind of quiet recently, just lurking around everyone else's posts, making myself crazy. My PCP's office actually misplaced my medical records! Apparently when the surgeon's records request came in someone "newish" to the office put them in the wrong pile where they sat until Friday afternoon. For two weeks they have been sitting there! In addition to the fact that it added a couple weeks to my wait for wls, I had lab results in there that had yet to be returned to me... that I needed meds for! New people make mistakes so I'm trying to get past it, but it's so frustrating! So, it's been three weeks since my consult with the surgeon and I'm in nearly the same place I was the day I walked out of his office, although some of my records finally arrived.
I'm fairly certain there aren't enough recorded diet attempts, although there are some. Anyway I'm sort of dieting yet again and next week I'll have another month in. I'm thinking though, maybe I ought to try to instill some of the "new" or "post op" behaviors now... what is the most difficult thing to adjust to? can I even really "practice" effectively?
I need to do something besides terrorize the assorted docs in my life... Advice? Lexia
Waiting is hard, but you're right in wanting to "practice". First of all, get out and walk as much as you can. Maybe try taking vitamins too. Get all of the junk food out of your house and don't buy anymore. Stop drinking pop and try cutting carbs like bread and sugar. The carb thing was the hardest for me, i had headaches for a while. After you detox your body it gets easier. Try not drinking half an hour before and after meals too. The more you learn now the easier it will be for you post op. Hope this helps

I also am playing the waiting game. I am alittle farther ahead- the insurance company is reviewing my file for approval or denial. Every day seems like a week- and each week----- well you know. Every time I talk to my surgeons office I ask how long the next step takes. I then wait the specified time, and call back and double check the status. I have also checked in with my insurance company to make sure they received my file and asked how long the review takes. I will be callilng again at the end of this week just to check on things. Everyone I have talked to has been wonderful and never made me feel like I was bothering them- so keep in contact with your doctors and later your insurance company.
I have also been making some changes- cut out caffeine- almost no soft drinks. I have been trying different protein suppliments. Some are good- so not so good.
Good luck- you will make it.
Been there, done that. My surgeon's office lost my entire FILE!!! Boy was I PO'd. (see my profile for all the icky details). I had to go back to my doctors and recreate my medical records.... gggggrrrrr
The lesson to learn here is that NO ONE cares more about your health then YOU!!!! Not even your doctor. You have to be willing to fight for your health. Track your own paperwork (I had to do this), follow up with your insurance company if need be, be willing to jump in there and work to get your surgery!
The waiting truely can drive a person NUTSO
But take comfort in that almost all of us had to go through it. (one long year of waiting for me). Getting busy is the best thing to do!!! I started drinking the "required" amounts of water, eatting regular meals, cutting out pop, etc... all good habits to begin now!!!! Just don't stock up on protein, because your taste may change after surgery and you may not like it anymore!!
Read profiles - I did a TON of that while I was waiting. I knew (or thought I did) all of the possible complications and found examples on the boards. I wanted to know EVERYTHING about the surgery and what could happen!!! I especially read all the people that I thought were "successful"!!!
Keep your chin up - it will happen for you too!!!!!!!
