Psych Eval & Dr. Medick w/ Barix, Ypsilanti?

Quick question?  Did anyone have Dr. Medick at the Barix in Ypsilanti do their psych eval.?  He's apparently there only on Fridays now, and I was wondering if he was quick to get the written report in to the ins. coordinator for submission or is it a slow process? It's so hard waiting now that the 6 mos. supervised diet is over and I'm anxious to get the ball rolling.  I spoke w/ Vicki Scibor my ins. coordinator and she said it could be as long as 3 wks or so.  I can't imagine why it would take so long.  Then my ins. can take up to 30 days to decide.  My hopes of an Aug. surgery if approved look less promising than once hoped.  So I was wondering what anyone else's experience might be with them?  I guess that was 2 questions.  Oops!  Thanks for any info, patience is a virtue, but not one I posess.  Yikes. ~Hugs, to everyone out there waiting!  Steffanie

I did and Dr, Medick was quick it only took a week to get his paper work where it needed to be. My insurance did not need the psych. eval....but it is just a matter of time now for you.....Hang in there.

Thanks for the quick reply!  I am hoping it goes really quick.  I'm hoping he'll decide to turn my eval in quick so we can submit.  I'm more than ready to start my new life.  I also have family who wants to be here to help, but w/ them in NC and me in MI it's hard playing the waiting game.  I'm so thankful to everyone on this board.  It's the best feeling when you know you're not alone!  Crystal thank you so much & it looks & sounds like you're doing great!  I'm so happy for you! ~Hugs, Steffanie

Steffanie, I went through Dr. Medick in April and he had my letter to the clinic in one week.  I found out insurance approved me when I called to check my status and they said that my chart was on Dr. Schram's desk [which meant insurance had already approved].  It was on his desk for one week.  And then on the 3rd week, scheduling called me.  So the time line sounds about right.  It did seem like forever to wait.  But August doesn't seem out of the question to me...  good luck 

Same answer here.  I went with Dr, medick.  He was very fast.  He aslo was a very nice Dr.  I felt very at ease with him. Katie

Hi Steffanie, I had an appt with Dr. Medick last Friday. I liked him. That was my final (I hope) pre-req for surgery so I called him today to see how long he would be. He commited to having it complete by next Wed. I was hoping sooner because like everyone I'm getting REALLY excited and anxious! Best wishes to you!!! Robin

Hi Robin, thanks so much for the info!  Sounds like we were there at the same time or at least the same day!  I had a 9 am appt.  What time were you there?  I want to add you to my friends list!  Oh I so wish you lots of luck on approval and you'll definitely be in my thoughts and prayers!  Maybe we can do this journey together!  Thank you again for taking the time to reply!!  I'm really excited and anxious right there with you!  I really liked Dr. Medick too.  He was a straight shooter which I love! ~Hugs, Steffanie
