I can't do it on my own!

I really wanted to give it one more fighting chance on my own, and I can't do it... I have a appointment with Dr. Schram on June 12th, and this time I will not cancel, and will not listen to those who are AGAINST me having this done. As a matter a fact,  I will not even be telling them I'm going... I have not gained anymore and I have not lost, so I quess that is good. Just done being fat...I want my life back. I have to much to live for... Tracey

Tracey, sometimes admitting you need help is the hardest thing to do. After ten years of trying on my own (and my weight steadily climbing) I realized it was time to act. I needed help and it wasn't easy to admit, but it's all for the best... a healthier you in the end...

You can do it on your own. It will not be easy but you can do it. I'm certain you will get support here also. People on  this board have given rides, visited, took care of, opened their homes and provided materials for patients. They will help you and you can do it. Keep your focus on your goal. Ahmed

Tracey, you are among friends here.  We have all come up against someone who was against us getting healthier and we survived.  We will be here for you to provide support and anything else that we can.  Now is the time for you to take charge of your life.  Only you can decide to do this and I hope you are comfortable with the decision this time.  It's taken some time but you've finally reached the turning point.  Take advantage of it.

Tracey, you have to do this for you! I was a yoyo for 25 years. It took becoming borderline diabetic for me to go forward witht he surgery. I do not regret it at all. I am almost 1 year out and down 168 lbs total and feeling great. I can play with the grandbabies and enjoy life again for the first time in 25 years. It is a good thing, most of the people who try to talk you out of it have never had a weight problem and listen only to the negative reports. there are so many positives! Go see Dr Schram, he is wonderful and very thorough and experienced. teri

Tracey, congrats on making this life changing decision.  I yo yo-d for several years and then researched WLS.  Even though I knew that would be my best chance of survival, I felt I owed it to myself to try it one last time, on my own. I did great!  I lost 50 lbs in roughly 6 months, but that was with the aid of Metformin along with diet change.  Roughly 2 years later, I regained 30 of those pounds and that's when I decided enough was enough.  I needed something permanent.  I'll be 6 months out this month, I'm down nearly 60 lbs, and feel GREAT!! I can play with my kids, I can shop without running out of breath or needing pain killers for my back/hips.  I"m starting to LIVE again.  Good luck with your decision, your appt. and everything else from this point on.  I wish you well!!

You are all so kind, thank you!  Teri, You my dear are so right, and got me thinking! The 2 people who have been the hardest on me about WLS, HAVE NEVER HAD WEIGHT ISSUES!!! Of course they would NOT understand... I know I am going to face a lot of doubts in the next several months, but I have something I don't think I had before, I have a determination to do this...Watch out world, I'm ready to live I am ready to dance before the Lord, run with my kids, to live... THANK YOU ALL AGAIN!!! YOU ALL INSPIRE ME...
