I know where my salt craving comes from
I picked up the results from my blood tests and all the stuff that's supposed to be good was excellent but my sodium and chloride were below normal. I was having this salt craving and now I know why. My blood pressure yesterday was 95/58 which is a bit low too so I guess I can go ahead and salt my tongue down for a while.
My A1C was a wonder 5.3 which is a far cry from the 8.5 it used to be. My TSH (thyroid) was almost nil so I have a call into my PCP to up the dosage again (this is one we can't get right for some reason).

Way to go Ann,
My A1C was also about the same as yours; I am down to only half a pill at night for my diabetes and soon will be off altogether! Yes, that is real low for BP. I am off my blood pressure meds, as well as no more gout meds.; and only a fraction of the pain meds.! I am feeling so much better; as I am sure you are as well. Feeling better, getting better health; is what this has been all about for me. The rest is just a bonus! They say I will always have to continue my thyroid meds.. Keeping on going Ann.. Hugs, Judy R
thats all good that you found out about the salt thing.......but can you please tell me where did this sweet tooth come from after eating? I have never had a sweet tooth and now I seem to want a cookie after dinner.........this can be dangerous.........lol.....I do control it, but it sure is hard sometimes. Maybe I will ask the dietician........Have a great day.....Your A1C rocks keep up the good work!
Kim, I get a sweet tooth every now and then. I think we all do because we're normal. I do indulge myself with a Russell Stover candy. I could have 3 but one usually fixes me (3 would have me in the bathroom the rest of the day). I get over the chocolate and sweet craving and haven't done much damage. I do account for the calories and fat & carbs in my Fitday daily total so I do have to cut something else or eat even healthier to make up for it.
I talked to my PCP and instead of upping the thyroid dosage, she cut it in half and may cut it out all together. It seems that the number in the tests show I was taking too much medicine. I have now cut them in half and we'll do another test in a month or so to see where the number is. She also wanted me to cut the water down because the sodium & chloride were low. I told her I can't do that so I now have to do sugar free gatorade (I don't know if they even make it) or Crystal Light with electrolytes. This should get me back in balance.
