Help!

I started the plateau buster diet today. Not so much because of weight loss....I'm still losing slowly.....but because I let myself fall into some really bad habits. Some days I can eat all day, and by the end of the day I write down what I ate and it's a TON!  I really wish that docs and support groups would stress this fact with pre-ops.  I know I never thought I would be back with the same old habits again.  I honestly thought that I would be physically unable to eat a lot again.  HA! Well, anyway, now I know better, and decided it's time to "detox" from my grazing habits.  Wish me luck....and someone bail me out of jail if I wind up there because I went crazy! Brenda

Good for you Brenda.  You have recognized the problem and are getting back to basics.  I also found myself starting the grab & eat habit but I nipped that one really quickly because I no longer have "stuff I can eat" around.  I have healthy stuff like salad or celery and that takes care of a grab & eat.  I don't worry about eating my husband's cookies, etc because I know that sugar will make me sick.  I just need to keep my brain trained that I can't eat sugar free/fat free all day either.  It's funny how your brain tries to let you slip back into old habits.

I know what you mean Brenda!  It gets hard.  I've gone back to basics too.  I'm doing 4 protein shakes a day, lots of water and watching my carb intake.  And of course, my power walking!!!!  Need to make yourself a priority again.  Need to be a little selfish and think of yourself first for a change.  Get a grip now -  you've worked way too hard to get where you are at! Take care, Carey

Brenda, You just took the biggest step, knowing that you are grazing.  That is one of the hardest things for WLS patients.  A nibble here and a there seems harmless, but as we know, that's what got us where we started this journey. I'm proud of you for taking steps to get back to basics. huge hugs, Jenn

Thanks for the encouragement guys! I made it through the day at work and (I'm embarassed to admit this) had to actually spit stuff out a few times because I was absentmindedly munching as I made snacks for the kids. It's nice to come here and vent and know that everyone understands where I'm coming from. Ok, I'm off to do my Dancing with the Stars DVD.  Of course, I win the judges' vote every week at my house LOL.

Hey Brenda, How is that DVD? Is it difficult or too easy? Does it get your heart rate up? Do you like it? Sorry for the interrogation - LOL!!! Take care, Carey

Carey, It's hard for me to keep up with!  I do have two left feet, but they just jump right in and have you doing kind of hard moves right away.  I end up just convulsing around to the music and watching Max dance!  It's not too easy, that's for sure.  I think it's one of those DVD's that you could get a lot of use out of because it won't be too boring, at least not at first.  It's all the older type of music, too.  When I work out I usually like more modern, but this works when I can't get outside.  I noticed you do get a good workout in your waist area.
