OT/ Centipedes are grossing me out.

As a lot of you know, i'm recently transplanted to Michigan. One of the things you have up here that i've never seen before is this weird house centipede thing.  They're gross, they're quick and I have not yet found the answer to ridding the house of them.

Does anyone have any success?  I went to home depot and they recommended some bug spray that turns out to be very ineffective.  I can't stand these things.  They're harder to kill than Florida's infamous palmetto bugs.   HELP!!!

They are kind of like fish flys, you just live with them.  Oh, how I love fish flys.  They are INCREDIBLE!!!  Good Luck    Carol

Actually Jay, I have an answer for you, but most people don't like the solution any more than the problem.  Wolf spiders!  I don't kill spiders in my house, unless they are in my bedroom.  We have had many of the wolf spiders ( they are the fast buggers with the stripe down the back) and they LOVE centipede meat.  It is a non toxic solution and you would be amazed how quickly they solve the problem, you can transplant them from outdoors into your basement also.   Another solution is the bugbomb.  But if you have children and pets, I don't recommend that, and you have to turn off all pilot lights and be away from home for a few hours, then wash down everything that you touch on a regular basis.   Good luck. I can't stand them either Jay.  I was lucky enough to have one join me in the shower the other day.  I was screaming for my husband.  And of course, he was my hero - he killed it.  Talk about having the heebie jeebies!!!!!!!!!  YUCK!!!!!  I honestly don't know what to tell you to get rid of them.  I know they like where it is damp.  Good Luck! I've come to the conclusion that all i can do is try to seal up any entries into the house. but unfortunately these things can live for over a year so i'm gonna have to hunt each one down! Maybe i can eat some sugar and then fart on them! that should blow them right out of the house.

A year???  EWW!!!  We always kill them.  My girls can't stand them either.  We usually go running for the hills and send Daddy in there to kill it!!!!  We drive him crazy sometimes with all the drama when we find one.    But that's what happens when you're in a house full of women.

Hi J, I'm a MI transplant also, I hate bugs.  You have far less of them here than the South where I'm from.  Anyway, we all hate those stupid ladybug looking things that invade your homes here in MI.  When you kill them they smell like damp earth. EEEEWWWW...............  centipedes, are gross.  Not enough protein to be worth it........... sorry just had to go there.  Hehe.......... Wolf spiders, no way............I'm not transplanting no stinkin spider into my house either.  I watched a spider show on Discovery recently, I'm still having nightmares about them.  A spider bite can be bad.  On spiders, sleep with your mouth shut....................nuf said. I think I might just keep my cpap machine...........hehe.

touche'.

bad news, i need a new radiator and possibly more work done to my car so we won't be doing the waterfront film festival. at least we shouldn't be doing the film festival, i'm still tempted. i mean if i'm gonna be walking from now on i might as well have a good weekend. I just have to talk Mel into being as irresponsible as myself.
